Truly a Buffista at heart.
"Ooh! You changed your hair!" is truly the greeting of my people.
No strawberries at the farmers' market (I knew it was too early)
Things are just blooming here. How did you think you'd have fruit? Oh! My blackberries are on the edge of blooming. I need to lure unsuspecting people down when they are ripe to pick them. Those bushes are brutal.
Mmm, I want local produce. P texted the other morning saying she was going to start her garden and what requests did I have. Let's keep our fingers crossed that that works out. I asked for berries, herbs and salad. Oh, and carrots for the kids. Because it's cool when you pull out big frilly leaves and omg there are carrots as roots. All about the educationish bits. And having treats for me.

Also, I watched her down her first shot of Fernet, which she'd never heard of but made her feel really fucked-up. I told her I have some friends who swear by it.
You know what is a delicious summer cocktail? Cava and homemade limoncello!
I had packing anxiety dreams last night, so I came up with a tentative itinerary for the 4 days after the meeting: Head NW of Madrid to the towns of Avila, Segovia, Sepulveda and Pedraza. Probably base out of a couple of them to explore the other two. Head back as late as possible Sunday night to Madrid. All are ancient, small and one has CANYONS! Basically, I like to wander around. I don't need to shop, I prefer museums of the local history kind rather than art, and taking buses/trains through the countryside is kind of awesome. I figure that in addition to the weekend in Madrid,we'll have chances to explore after the meeting ends for the day but long before dinner happens....
a loaf of GF pumpkin bread AND GF graham crackers (there are s'mores in my future, oh yes there are!), and frozen quarts of GF soup:

I have no gluten-free Farmers' Market
First you have to find gluten-free farmers.
Soylent Green is made of gluten!
A friend made me a bumper sticker that says "Corporations aren't people, Soylent Green is people!"
Today started out ok. I got to sleep in, then went and had a massage. She concentrated on my shoulder and while it isn't as tight as it was, it still hurts. Then I got my hair chopped. Once home, I got laundry done, pulled more stuff for the garage sale, shifted furniture around in my room, and gathered garbage to go out.
Then I decided to flop on my bed for a bit and cruise the internets. Now I have a horrid headache. Blast. K-Bug is off house sitting and CJ isn't feeling on top either, so neither of us wants dinner. I may just call it a day and go to sleep.

Oh, that sounds lovely. I had vino verano (I think) in Spain, which is wine with sparkling water and it was like that, very tasty.
sarameg, when you're in Madrid, make sure someone takes you to the cider bar on the north side of town: for every drink you order, you get a huge plate of patatas bravas or bread and jamon. Very much a locals place, very cheap and tasty.
In other news, I have my first pair of Chucks: Nordstrom's Rack had a pair in purple in my size.
