brillig

but for an in-town event, it's not bad to bring the gift in person, is it? I'm just thinking about saving the shipping costs...

The thinking behind not bringing gifts is that you're not giving them something they're going to have to manage the transport of. Someone's going to have to get the gift home, and the couple may not have been going straight home.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I know. Most weddings I've been to have been out of town, so it's a more clear-cut pain in the ass! Anyway, the idea I had won't work, because the baskets they want aren't available in the store, I can't get one and put the little kitchen stuff inside, anyway. Ah well!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Grocery run today. Other than that, nothing. Finally watched my Netflix disk of "Bride and Prejudice". Amusing, even if the male lead was kinda bland.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You know what I need? I mean apart from a registry? A good bed tray. Not that I'd use it in bed, but it would make my habitual eating in front of the TV more civilised and tidy...I don't remember where I got the one I used to have, but it was hella nifty. Good clearance of the nap, easy to get the legs out with one hand, and a decent lip that stopped things from rolling.

Bless this doctor. I told him my dose should be 4mg, not the three he was writing for, and he said that meant no third dose. But when he came by just now he enquired about my pain level and breathing and I think he's going to wore for the third. Which is great, because the second had no palpable effect. He clearly didn't like the idea, but was deferring to my pain and my specialist.

Like this one my friends registered for?

So at least that's done. I love seeing the kind of life people expect to have, via what they've registered for. These folks plan to have a lot of parties, I guess.

I am procrastinating laundry worse that ever, since I have to go to the laundromat. I guess I'll take a shower now and go after that?

Because books.

Oh, I like that bed tray. Hmm.

That looks nice! And it's totally a registry item. The lip is a bit wide, but it looks good.

I'll have you know that black people are totally racist. Most of them here are totally pointedly making sure I'm taken care of. Cute black technician guy just stopped by, made conversation, told me I reminded him of the chick who gets sickle cell pain treatment (I brought her up, but he knows her full name off the top of his head, as well as her job), and then got me more juice and crackers.

Andrew Ti would be scandalised.

I really need to hit up the laundromat. And work out where near here rents a carpet shampoo rig. Next weekend. Ugh.

Ooh. Shift change. New nurse is the fast talking intense chick who reads science fiction and fantasy but not the one with the Buffy and Angel tattoos.

Is he single?

Mummy? Is that you?

She blamed herself yesterday again for my childlessness. She's way too funny. If I have to have a neurotic mother, it sure helps if she's a little ditzy and a lot hysterical.

I love this nurse. She's so intense and opinionated. I can ask her anything about the hospital, hell--all her hospitals, and she's glad to give me the rundown of who what where and why it's a bad idea. I like engaging the nurses and getting fact and feelings. She's totes old school and sassy.

Oh! Good looking tech again. My mother would kill me for not getting impregnated yet.

Well, while you're there ...

Is the kind of thing where you have to have them before your sister, because you're older?
