Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Doooo eeeeeeeet.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Your first responsibility is to yourself.

Absofuckinglutely. I'm all for having a sense of responsibility to your job and your co-workers and showing loyalty.

OTOH, if they undervalue you so much that they (a) are not compensating you enough to stay; or (b) have created a toxic environment then you'd be foolish to soak up the failings of your workplace.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Awful coworkers for limited time vs. eternal regrets

Unless the coworkers awful extends to poisoning our coffee, I'd say give notice and take the job. If the awfulness does extend to poisoning your coffee, I'd say just drop a note off with the receptionist and run.

ETA: And, of course, take the job.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Congrats, le nubian! I knew they'd see your awesomeness.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Congratulations le nubian!

Art Crawl!!!

Had a pretty productive middle of the day: ran the main errand I had - a three-part adventure involving stopping at Walgreen's for packing tape and sharpies, going to the bagel place for breakfast (and most importantly - coffee), packing my box and a light spot of reading and then to the post office to mail the package. Stopped off to rest and read on the way back and came home where I have been most unproductive for the rest of today.

Did watch two (pretty much the last two) Kentucky Derby preps - both good races.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Congrats on the offer, le nubian. If staying feels like a mistake, it probably is.

I forgot to buy tomato paste today, so the batch of chili currently cooling on my stove was made with about 6 oz. of pasta sauce with garlic & olives instead. I hope it comes out OK.

Punishingly Intricate

Bob made a beercan chicken with a Chinese 5 spice blend. He's taking it apart right now and it is falling off the bone tender and so yummy. I also roasted some asparagus and some potato salad with parsley and lemon and capers. Later I'm going to whip some cream to have with almost local (VA) strawberries!

OH! And we have sauteed morels Bob foraged from Druid Hill Park, the big city park adjacent to our neighborhood.
