They probably add the syrup to the rice to make it sticky. I'm guessing they don't special order Japanese sticky rice.

Our wings are not tired.

No sugar in my egg salad. Celery is welcome, as well as horseradish, and olives. Or just plain eggs and mayo. Just no sweetener please.

Natter had like 2300 posts this week while it was hidden from my sight. It is always a shock to me when I subscribe again on the weekend.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

when we make sushi with sushi rice at home , i does have sugar added to the rice-- helps it all stick together - but that just means I get sashimi with just a few piecess of sushi

Isn't sushi rice traditionally seasoned with a sweetened vinegar and a little salt?

Yeah, the other day my roomie and I were at the big Asian grocery store here, buying things from her cookbook to make dinner, and we bought mirin which is supposed to be a rice wine, and I was like "sure, it's like cooking sherry, OK..." and when we got it home, realized the brand we grabbed was basically...HFCS. And some corn syrup. Yeesh.

How's the new roomie working out, meara? Is she settling in?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Random question... Does anyone else find the Svedka ads to be horribly offensive?

ION, I discovered the point at which the "low fuel" warning goes off in my car. Oops. And I didn't have my wallet with me. Double oops. Luckily I was able to make it home and to a station with a little over a gallon left.

Good job, Allyson!

After the gawdaful slowest swim in a long time (g.d. hormones,) I cleaned all the floors. And I need to call dad. 70! 70!!!!

Balls, I left my cell at my parents' place. Happily, my sister is probably going out there tomorrow and I can have her fetch it for me.

... I feel so disconnected!

...y'all don't drive around with the low fuel light on? I...feel like I live dangerously now. Then again, mine comes on when I still have an eighth of a tank.

How's the new roomie working out, meara? Is she settling in?

She's good! She's liking her new job, which is good, and figuring out some of the city. We're going for dim sum tomorrow. We seem to be getting along pretty well, so yay.

I would feel very disconnected without my phone. Having it run out of battery makes me panicky.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I drive around with my car on empty, but I have a hybrid and know that there's a gallon or so left when the empty light comes on, so I can drive about 40 miles that way.

I cannot believe how loud the music festival is across the effing Mississippi River. There's an echo, but I can hear it pretty darn clearly. That's what I get living four blocks from the levee, I guess. Seriously, though, I assumed it was four or five blocks away, not in freaking Gretna.
