Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

For the record, I have no idea what pop culture reference you guys are making.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

brillig

Just got the schedule for Thanksgiving--I CAN HAZ TURKEY IN NICE RESTAURANT!

ie, I do get that day off, despite dire murmurings of "Well, we're open, and *somebody's* going to be working that day."

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Yay, Connie!

I will be co-hosting Thanksgiving at my sister's house, per usual. Gotta order the turkey soon. And plan the pies.

Jury duty accomplished: they didn't want me. So I came back to the office, since I'm a good worker bee. Rumor has it the OccupyOakland gang is reconvening at 4PM at the main library: I do hope this doesn't mean another march on downtown. I'm a bit protested out.

Oh, don't talk like that Consuela. They do want you. It's just that...just...okay, I got shit. Congrats on not missing paid days, though. Sorry if you wanted some civic duty.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I think the law only mandates time off to serve; not for mandatory salary reimbursement for time lost due to jury service.

This is certainly true. Teachers can't serve on juries during the school year unless the trial began prior to school starting. We don't get paid for jury service.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Dude, you've got a law degree, a daunting level of knowledge of current events, all-purpose smarts for days, and a job with the government. I'm shocked you lasted an hour without someone strenuously objecting to your presence in the building!

I thought that was supposed to be urban legend that lawyers don't get picked. However, during the one jury selection I was involved in, the defense lawyer was really keen on finding out who had legal experience or connections. The other lawyer didn't seem to care much.
