Allyson, great letter. I'm gonna have my kids read it. I'm so happy that I know one of them is a fireman. He already runs toward fires, for reals. I want to say the rest of us are.
Haven't gone to Sullivan's blog and right now I really don't want to.
BTW, Allyson, FWIW I think the Kitty Genovese thing has been modified over the years. I believe social researchers no longer think that people stood by and did nothing, rather the tenants in the building did not recognize what they were hearing due to acoustics, etc.
Yeah, also that he dragged her a pretty far distance, so a lot of people heard something, then looked out the window, and by that point there wasn't anything to see in their line of vision, so they figured it was nothing and went back to whatever they were doing. There was a bar on that block, so yelling on the street wasn't unusual.
"This American Life" this weekend is kind of awesome.
Part 2. Part 2 is focused on a gay young Mormon man in Utah. I will leave it there for the description because the whole audio must be heard. I literally squealed in the car while driving at least 3 times.
Especially during the part where Ira Glass says, almost inaudibly, (I had to rewind to catch it again) "Oh my God" after a particular confession from the interview subject. I have never heard Glass say such a thing and thing is? I said the SAME thing about then too!
I have to say, I'm having a lot of fun wearing these new boots. They're a bit too too for the average work day, but fuck all that.
These are the Boots With the Furrr? (Is the whole club looking at you?)
Are you working the Apple Bottom jeans?
For the record, I have no idea what pop culture reference you guys are making.
Whaaa? I don't know anyone who hasn't been earwormed with it!

Just got the schedule for Thanksgiving--I CAN HAZ TURKEY IN NICE RESTAURANT!
ie, I do get that day off, despite dire murmurings of "Well, we're open, and *somebody's* going to be working that day."
