Making me happy today: looks like I've found a place to live after my lease here runs out, if not sooner; I went looking for specific things and purchased only those things; having off on a GORGEOUS day; puttering around a bead store; consuming very very good and authentic pain au chocolat and latte from the French bakery. When I was coming up with cat names back in 2004, I knew I had to get something Egyptian, but Cleopatra was a cliche, and the only other women I could think of were Nefertiti and Hatshepsut, and how do you abbreviate either of those names? So I went with Nefertiti and Ahnknaten's capital city, Amarna.

They do seem to inspire. My daughter's sixth grade class did a unit and she ended up with the nickname Neferlex for a while.
