I'm trying to decide what I want to do for my birthday this weekend. I'm still kind of sick, so not really up for visiting anywhere. There's so much traffic around here now from all the press and everything, and it'll get much worse on the weekend because of the football game, so I can't really ask anyone to come visit me. I've got a few friends around here that I could go out to dinner with, but I really don't know that many people well enough yet. (I think the only person I'd really feel comfortable asking is someone who I've known since grad school, and she recently got married and I don't know whether to invite her husband or not, since I don't really know him.)

Some little girls brought a wagon full of baked goods to sell to the reporters camped out outside Paterno's house. (I tried driving by there today, just to see what was happening, but the police had the street closed to all cars except local traffic. There's not much local traffic, since Paterno's house is the last one on a dead end street.)
Congrats, flea!
Congratulations, flea!
Do you get ION?
Yes, I saw that one last night. It was intense. It's a great show.
Congratulations, flea!
Flea, congrats! Both my grandfather and great-uncle taught there at various points in their lives. (Possibly both great-uncles, but Danny's the only one I'm certain of.)
[eta: Yup, Google says Billy taught at the College of Medicine, or at least was on staff there. My mom's family has pretty deep Cincy roots.
Also, remind me to never Google my great-uncle Billy again - this was the first hit. Yay science, but ewwwww.]

Timelies all!
Congrats flea!
Slept better last night, but not great, and still tired.
Jessica, your relatives in medicine almost certainly knew my grandfather - he was the chair of Pharmacology at UC from 1948-1974, when he retired.
Any hints on how to make the thing more user friendly?
I make it user-friendly by never going there. I'd rather have the creeping guilt from the "Consuela, you have notifications pending" emails than the discomfort from actually logging in.
... I may be a bit prone to avoidance. Really, I should just cancel my account, but it does seem to be the only way to keep in touch with some folks.
