K-Bug went by KCD's to get some paperwork she needs for school. While there she mentioned that I had been at CJ's school talking with the teachers. He comments to her that CJ is smarter than her. WTF? He kept on with it comparing CJ to his new step-son and how the boys are smarter then K-Bug and his new step-daughter. WTF? CJ has an amazing memory and still struggles in school, partially because he is bored. Also, hello - your daughter just graduated college in 3 years with a very respectable gpa.
He then got passive aggressive with her over the fact that CJ wants to spend the weekend up at a friend's cabin. CJ had asked his dad's permission since it would be during his weekend. K-Bug has nothing to do with that, didn't even know CJ had been invited to the cabin. Needless to day, KCD told CJ that he couldn't go. Ok, yes, it is KCD's weekend and his choice what CJ does - but seriously, why not let him have a weekend with his friend. Let the boy have a social life outside of ARP and karate.
Of course I can't talk about any of this at home. I try not to bad mouth KCD around CJ. But arrrrggggggggg.
Sorry, Suzi. That's just shitty.
You don't want to bad mouth KCD to CJ, but you can definitely tell KCD that you don't agree with comparing the intelligence of the kids (
especially to one of them to their face!)
and it would help to be flexible with CJ's social time as he's getting into his teens and will be wanting more for himself.
Pretty dickish.

Also, Suzi, mega-uggh. WTFF?
God, Suzi, that's awful. What the hell is wrong with him?
I hope K-Bug knows how smart and accomplished and all-around awesome she is.
Luckily K-Bug knows her dad can be dickish. Shoot even her current boy, G, knows that when she spends time with KCD, K-Bug comes home upset. Last time the gem of the visit was that K-Bug was just like me, keeping things from him. Eh? I try to let him know what is going on with CJ and all that. And, hell yes, K-Bug and I are a lot alike. Tough.
I just don't get him. He isn't happy with his relationship with K-Bug. Yet he makes no effort with her, just spouts off digs that piss her off.
I was going to call him to give him a run down of what the teachers said today - but I'm too pissed to do it tonight. Shoot - he could have come, he gets the same school notices.
And dang, just now CJ asked why I was so quiet. I tried to just brush it off but ended up telling him I wasn't happy with his dad. My mama-bear protectiveness is out.
He isn't happy with his relationship with K-Bug.
Gee, I wonder why. He sounds like he belongs in an AT&T U-verse ad.

Heh. Most of my Facebook feed is about Steve Jobs, and 99% of it is general Changed Technology, RIP, etc. The other 1% is a sort of unhinged hatefest for him and Apple products. And I'm thinking, Dude, you don't like Apple, that's cool, but maybe decaf is a good idea.
And then I realized I keep some people on my FB feed for the sheer entertainment value. Like this dude -- NEVER going to be a mellow, reasonable human being. Dude hates EVERYTHING except, I think, puppies. Although he would probably hate Steve Jobs' puppy, I don't know.
Re-reading Jobs bio one of the things that sticks out is that when Apple was teetering on the brink, '97-'98, Bill Gates invested $150 million in them.
So contrary to how capitalism is supposed to work. You know? Kill off your rivals? Yet, Gates knew the industry was better for having an Apple in it.
