And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

no effort went into the trick/treat bag at all.

Yeah, I guess I just don't see the bag as important enough to make an effort for. I mean, I'd rather a kid used something they already had than buying some cheap plastic pumpkin at Target the night before.

[eta: Oh, if that was the entire costume then that's a problem. ]

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I might be wrong, but I have seen it happen.

Because books.

The trend here with the tweens and teens is apparently to wear your backpack backward, open, and slap on some kind of makeup or a mask. I'm unamused.

The little ones are, of course, adorable.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

My rule is that if they don't have a costume, they have to tell me a Halloween joke or riddle AND I mock them for no costume. Because I am mean.

Photo of my Halloween outfit is over in FB/on Tumblr for those who want to see.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I've been at a "motivational" conference all day, which is a thinly veiled shill for get rich quick schemes interspersed with legit speakers. Why, Colin Powell, why? I think I'm going to skip Bill Cosby and just go home.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Why, Colin Powell, why?

He should have asked himself that about eleven years ago.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I always feel bad when people talk about hs age tric or treaters. I totally tric or treated even when I was in college. Granted, we did it as a Drama Club activity, and I too over drama club when I graduated, so it was more about sharing info re: our upcoming play than Candy grabbing. And the same group went caroling every year.

I sometimes look at my young self- I thought I was so unhappy, but I had the energy to plan all these things for large groups of people that I would still love to do, but I haven't the energy.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

We had that same motivational thing here in Rochester.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Oh, I trick-or-treated in HS and college, I just made damn sure I was wearing a costume. And occasionally had a friend's small child with me.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

No trick or treaters at all -- pouring rain and a tiny invisible street -- but I was hoping for at least a few, since we've had some kids move to the block in the last few months.

Also, I totally failed to convince Stephen's foil class that it's part of the official rules for team fencing matches that they have to stop to do the Time Warp between bouts if it should happen to come on.
