Riley: Oh, yeah. Sorry 'bout last time. Heard I missed out on some fun. Xander: Oh yeah, fun was had. Also frolic, merriment and near-death hijinks.

Toy Story is being watched. The 3 year old has professed his dislike of blueberry muffins (all the more for me). And the 9 month old is so close to walking. She is way more mobile than the last time I had them here. She is keeping me on my toes.

The weather is too icky to take them out. Would be nice if that would clear up.

My sister's household has three cats and a dog. Two of the cats fight, and every time they do it loudly enough for the dog to notice, she rushes over and breaks it up. I've always wondered what's up with that. Is she just investigating? She does make them stop. It's pretty funny.

Because books.

I wish I was there, Suzi. For a lot of reasons! But playing with babies would be fun.

I found my pumpkin cookie recipe, and I think I have what I need for the apple cheddar bread. Firing up the oven soon.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Man, this Doc Martens sale is killing me. Discounted prices, but an additional 20% off that, and free shipping. I think I might have to buy these boots that Trudy linked over on fb. Only they're suede, and I wear my Docs all day every day in hard terrain and expect them to last a decade. I was going to buy the bright red ones, because they're normal leather, but they're not in my size. The SO thinks I should just get the full-price leather ones (which I could do in classic black or this distressed brown, that they'll wear better and at $12/year it works out to not that bad a price. I dunno, though, the suede ones at $60 are literally half price. I mean, I could buy two pairs. That'd probably last a decade, right?

Oh, right, working.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

It's cold and blustery here. No likelihood of snow, but there's a freeze warning tonight. So tomorrow I guess I can take care of a bunch of post-freeze gardening stuff.

Today I plan to deep clean the apartment as my sister's coming to visit next week. It's a good day for it.

Really nice out here, sunny and calm. Which is good because I'm down art the dock waiting for some guy to help take my dad's boat out. They agreed to meet up "not before 11" so we could be here awhile.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

It's definitely snowing here now, and starting to accumulate. This is so weird for October. I can remember snow before Halloween once or twice before, but always just flurries, never like this.

Thanks Amy. I had considered making cookies with the three year old but Little Miss is way too active and I'm out of practice cooking one handed.
