Well, I just discovered that, as much as I am enjoying watching Mad Men for the first time via Netflix, I don't think I can keep doing it, being a person who only quit smoking two and a half months ago. Jesus. I've spent two weekends in a smoking household and a couple of nights in my old karaoke haunts, where smoke breaks were part of the ritual, and I've been OK. Tempted, sure, but OK.

After a four or five episodes of Mad Men - I just went out and smoked a butt on the porch (ETA: my sister smokes outside; not my cigs). Not to worry, it was pretty much yuck, and I have no intention of doing it again or starting again, but my god!

Good thing I'm not a reformed drinker, too.

Really no worries, I am not normally tempted, and I think less and less about it. I just had to confess my one lapse since I quit. I guess that makes you all my sponsor.

I really am kind of annoyed that I can't watch this show yet.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Man, I miss the days of hookers and blow...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yeah, and it really gets better and better from season to season. But they do still smoke a lot.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Thanks for all the birthday happies! Work was long and far more annoying that it needed to be. I need to shower that place off of me and then have a brownie.

I was giving a Texas boy a ride home from work when the game ended. He was looking at his phone and suddenly shouted, "NOOOOOOO!" Poor kid.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It's Nolan Ryan's fault. He doesn't understand that other pitchers don't have supernatural stamina like he did: [link]

So gross out. Rain and crunchy bits pretending to be snow. Driving to the market.

Woke up at 5. Managed another couple hours of dozing on the futon with Pumpkin stuffed under the blanket, MK by my head and Loki coming to drape (and make the 'kin rumble.)

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Dude, it's supposed to snow in the northeast this weekend? Man, that bites.

It already DID! THIS is going to actually accumulate. Ugh. Turns out the worst of it (as in possibly up to 10 inches) is hitting...CT. Made me think of Vortex.

You had to dodge cascades of icy water off tent roofs at the market. OK, finding my motivation to clean the whole damned house. I only have two reasons to leave the house today: swim and catsit.

Punishingly Intricate

My CSA emailed to say they were not making it to market due to snow. Makes me think it is okay if I skip today.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

If I'm going to panic-buy for the coming Snowpocalypse, I'd better get out of the house already, right?
