Wash: Well, I wash my hands of it. It's a hopeless case. I'll read a nice poem at the funeral. Something with imagery. Zoe: You could lock the door and keep the power-hungry maniac at bay. Wash: Oh, no, I'm starting to like this poetry idea now. Here lies my beloved Zoe, my autumn flower, somewhat less attractive now she's all corpsified and gross...

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Maria, I'm so sorry that you had such a rough night, and I'll be sending lots if ~ma to you and your DH today.

There's no cure for AIDS, but I know people diagnosed 20 years ago.

True, a couple of my closest friends are HIV+, and you wouldn't know it unless they told you. And they're in serodiscordant LTRs, too. And they're my age, and I plan to grow old with them.

Happy birthday, aurelia!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

That was the only part of vaguely-affiliated Catholicism that I was good at, honestly.

The "and also with you" part is being replaced with "and with your spirit."

Librarian Warlord

"and with your spirit."

I thought that change was from a year or more ago? It does, however, seem to be more appropriate for Halloween. Signed, Heretic.

I have so much to do, work is really getting in the way.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Ahahahaha! While I was typing this, he came in the kitchen door from the backyard and yelled, "I AM A ROCK STAR!!!" Yes you are, baby. Yes you are.

He IS a rockstar!!!

Happy Birthday, aurelia!

Much ~ma to Maria and DH.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Birthday Happies, aurelia!!

Coding and Sleeping

Happy Birthday,Aurelia!

I have to brag on Leif a little, we went to his parent-teacher conference and both his regular teacher and the gifted program teacher just had nothing but great things to say about him. His score on the Missouri standardized tests was 820 out of a possible 820. I'm proud of the little guy.

Em's doing well too and made straight A's for the semester but I think it's a little hard for her to have her little brother not just making straight A's but skipping a grade, being in the gifted program, scoring higher in assessments and all that stuff. I think she feels sort of like Simon to Lief's River.

Also, a little job~ma may be in order. Layoffs are coming. I don't know that they'll affect me or even my location, but after last spring I'm really stressed about it.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Jen (who has the sense of humor of a 15 y.o. boy) and Emmett bonded the whole night over innuendo concerning who's sack (of pirate booty) was weightier. There was snickering galore.

I miss Jen! Tell her to come to New Orleans soon, mmmkay?

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

That's great news about the kids, Gud!

I have so much to do, work is really getting in the way.

That makes too much sense.

I am taking today off, and also Monday. Today, I slept in until nine--which is about four hours later than I usually sleep. It feels damned good to be puttinga dent in this fatigue.
