After working here for ten months I decided to go to the (semi-notorious) group of food trucks down the street. Tossed the gross bahn mi/spring rolls out after a few bites. Another ten months, I guess.

Yeah, so, I got a reply back from a resume I submitted. They say they do a credit screen on their candidates before a face-to-face interview, though a bad score has no bearing on whether they'll hire you (orly? Then why do it).
Does this seem right to you? Not to me. They have it "set up" so you can do get a free credit report, and you send them the confirmation number.
This screams scam to me, as in devious ways to get your personal info. Amirite?
I think some employers -- banks, notably, and some others -- do credit checks. I think they did one on me to work at H&M. And if anyone's credit said "ready to steal!", it was probably me.
I should add, though, that that was after I was offered the job, and two interviews. Credit and background check.
The rollercoaster continues. Am getting a big raise. Effective April 1. What?
Is that 2011 or 2012, brenda?

Yeah, that's what I'm used to. It's not the credit check itself, it's doing it prior to even an interview, much less a job offer, that seems fishy to me.

That definitely sounds hinky to me, especially as a first step in considering someone, rather than a last step before hiring. I don't think I've ever had a potential employer run a credit check on me before, though I could be wrong.
April 1, 2012.
Well, that's nice news on your birthday!
It is, but six months? Lordy.
