A friend lost 40 pounds in the delivery room. Only 7 of those were baby. People at the company we worked at were still saying to her "Oh, I remember when you were pregnant. You were huge" when her daughter was 15. Why people she barely knew were saying that comes under the heading of "people suck."

How is 40 lbs. at once even possible? Did the kid come out holding on to loose internal organs?
Amniotic fluid + placenta accounts for a lot more weight than a newborn baby.
