Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
It's always an "isolated incident" or a "lone gunman" if it's right wing violence.
Cynically, I was actually surprised the whole "shooting at a Christian college" wasn't getting more news, in the "OMG WE ARE PERSECUTED" sort of way. I mean, I'm sure it did, on some sites, but not any of the ones I read.
The Santorum thing I've seen around, amusingly the first time I saw it was on Language Log, and they were trying to parse what he might've been about to say. Several people suggested "negotiations" or "negative" or something--something that would've been a few words or sentences later in the speech. Much as I'd like to believe he's a flat out racist (which, say, I DO believe about Gov Perry), I have to doubt that he uses the N-word commonly enough in speech to make him start to say that.
And the Planned Parenthood "incendiary device" or whatever just drives me nuts.

Wasn't the shooter a student of the college who had recently dropped out? Still a terrible thing, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he was shooting them for being Christian.
(Almost) all of the above is why I'm feeling the need for a media embargo soon. You guys will tell me if an asteroid is due to hit earth, right?
I assume if Clovis takes over, I'll get an email.

Yes, but since when do the facts get in the way of the outraged blogosphere?
Of course, I was just off rolling my eyes about Rick Santorum and his "California Universities don't even teach American History, it's EEEVIL!" thing.
Smonster, do you have an iPhone? I've been using a free app called"Antimoustique" when I ramble around outside the apartment and haven't been bitten so far.
Huh, I might have to check that out.
Happy birthday, Tom!
"We know who it is, Miss Daisy, it's always the same ones." (When they catch 'em, it's generally some dude that reminds me of George Zimmerman, too. Kinda chinless and pathetic. Not that he hasn't been up to *quite enough*, so I'm not saying he did that.)
