It's because you didn't have a strong father figure isn't it?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Wasn't Steph trying to get to Street View *in* the Quest View, though?

Yes. That is why it looks like that.

I was, and I just thought maybe it should look better than that. Still Legend of Zelda-ish, but...better.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Man, why didn't someone just tell us?

Or like several dozen rich countries, many NGOs and the UN!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I really like going to the movies, though, so I'm glad no one mentioned I could be ending world hunger instead.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That is why it looks like that.

Aha! Light bulb goes off really slowly. Uh, that part of the easter egg is kinda stupid.

it's not best for me to challenge them all

But is it fun, and can you keep drinking while you do it? I'm not drinking owt but tea, but I've already LMGTY to someone who was snippily telling me that Sam Worthington was *not* born in the UK, so my point was invalid. Made my whole day brighter instantaneously.

Unfortunately, the chickie who said "I haven't read The Hunger Games, but there shouldn't be any race issues in the futuristic dystopia." I'm still waiting for her to answer my question about why she thought it was a good idea to share the opinion without reading the story, carefully ignoring the fact that it's stupid right there on the face of it.

Hunger Games is rapidly coming in second on the list of books/movies I've seen people preface their opinions on with: "I've neither seen nor read it, but this is what happened/went wrong/can be fixed/was ripped off." But I think there was a tacit understanding among people that they really shouldn't read Twilight, and they were there to poke fun at vampires and romances and fans as much as anything else.

These are people straight up criticising something they are also willing to reveal they don't have any first hand knowledge of. And, judging by some of them, they haven't even gotten to the Wikipedia stage of research.

Why? Why say that right up there at the start of the debate? Why wouldn't you want to pretend you're an expert? Does YA in general or the book in specific have that bad cooties that you need to wear a surgical mask and latex gloves just to type your responses to everyone lest you come down with a severe case of Everdeen?

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I think I'm going to see John Carter today. Spending the afternoon with explosions and Taylor Kitsch shirtless sounds pretty good right now.

Between my parents and the job situation, I'm ready to cut a bitca, as the saying goes.

The belief is either deeply pessimistic, or insanely innumerate...or both. I just worry that someone else would hear it and assume that it's remotely accurate.

It's fun until I get all the sadfaces. What is LMGTY?

Before people think I'm a lot of a day drunk: My current practice is to run 10+ miles on Saturday morning, get crazy carb-hungry, and obsess about brunch places that serve bottomless mimosas during the run (juice + alcohol = double sugar). Then go to them. Then: drunk nap. This last is happening soon.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm going to take the dollars I didn't spend on the lotter and slip one under the front door of a school and put the other one in the mail to some hungry person. That should do it, right?

I think this is pretty much the perfect response.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I really like going to the movies, though, so I'm glad no one mentioned I could be ending world hunger instead.

They can have my popcorn and Raisinets!
