GodDAMN, Consuela!
Once I realized the date, I knew it was the twin's bday. Happy FIFTH!!!!
For the longest time, that date was part of my password system.
I was a total rockstar today and knocked out two complicated scripts that will make my job a lot easier. It would be a lot faster if I didn't have to dust off my perl, oh, every damned time. But the thing is, while I might be good at plotting out how code should work, actual coding makes me a little manic...ok a lot, in a bad way, so I let long intervals go between execution. So I have to remind myself of the syntax all over again. Jack of all trades, master of none, that's me.
My poor officemate, though. He's had to put up with 3 days of muttering, violent typing and dramatic sighs of disgust.
Keep forgetting to wish Happy Birthday to Noah and Grace. Happy Birthday, Noah and Grace!
I'm not that upset, because after all the bullshit about my own position, I didn't expect to make the list, and I really did knock out my application at the last minute.
But it's just so... symptomatic.
Any chance if he gets the job, you can take HIS?
Maybe it's time to enlist?
Bonus, you'd get training in the use of assault weapons. Which might come in handy if the day comes that you just can't take the red tape anymore.
I think the max age for enlistment is 38.
I didn't make the short list. Because I'm neither a current federal employee nor a veteran. ::head-desk::
I would say unbelievable, but remember how I was talking about an internal position and scared a colleague with Suela's tales of federal woe? All this position was supposed to be was a change in title. For people in my position at my office who are attorneys, we wanted to (a) have attorney in our title and (b) be promoted without taking accounting classes. Management assured us this was no problem; they wanted to keep the many lawyers on staff happy. But still this involved months of tense meetings, whispered conversations at every event, long emails, the union got involved, we had a meeting with management to "clear the air" where we weren't allowed to bring up the possibility that to get this title change we'd have to be demoted with reduced pay, one job announcement that had to be withdrawn because it didn't specify that one had to be a lawyer, then a second announcement was issued with an additional sentence about being a lawyer that had no fewer than six typos in the new sentence, and still no resolution of the demotion issue. The 15 or so of us that were in my position at my office applied; we were assured by regional management that we would all get it. Two people made it on the certificate. None of us were on it.
Happy birthday, Noah & Grace!!!
So maybe I'm glad I never did pursue a federal job when I was in DC?
NOAH AND GRACE!!!!! 5!!!!! too cool.
5 years, Kat. Amazing for all of you.
The twins came just 3 months after mac, so always a whirlwind in my mind. Mac, who by the way turns 11 in less than a month!
