"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yay you!

I have about a quarter of the kennel weeding left to do, but I got through a bunch.

Pear butter is buttery and caramel colored and I don't know if it will harden up, but I am prepping jars anyway.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Yeah, making new friends is super hard, and I have like no demands on my time!

This, so much. I've been here three years and I still know no one. I've met a few people but no one I could call up and hang with. Partly - well, mostly - because I'm such a hermit. It takes other people to get me out of the house, and I can't meet other people unless I get out of the house!

Goddamn motherfucking skunk cabbage.

Word. Words, even. My sister and I spent the morning battling that nasty stuff. And wild onions, and wild mint. You cannot get rid of that stuff. And planting shrubs and putting down mulch. Ouch, my back. But it looks good! As always, what price beauty.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What the fuck, Steph?

That reminded me I want to get a t-shirt for the Avengers. I really want Iron Man, but I hate all the t-shirts. I don't want a shirt with Iron Man on it, and he doesn't have a symbol the way, say, Batman does. (I know I could get a shirt with the arc reactor, but I'm not feeling it.) (My big exception to this rule is that I have a t-shirt that's a Wonder Woman comic cover, and I love it. But for the most part, I'm symbols-only gal.)

So I think I'm going with Cap.

I almost thought I'd written that myself, except I am trying to find a shirt with the arc reactor, and apart from the one at Think Geek that lights up, can't find a decent one. And that's too much. And I certainly can't find anything vaguely appropriate in a woman's cut. And, yeah, all my shirts are symbols: Supes, Bats, Aquaman, GL, Flash, Wonder Woman, and Captain America.

So I'm wearing the Captain America shirt I already have to the movies.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

a podcast about architectural challenges in designing for the Deaf.

That does sound interesting. What's the link?

I slept all day. I guess I needed it, but I still feel all disoriented. Also, part of my plan for today was grocery shopping, so now I've got to figure out dinner. I think I might just order in pizza. I wish there was something other than pizza that delivered around here.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I almost thought I'd written that myself, except I am trying to find a shirt with the arc reactor

The arc reactor doesn't really move me. I just don't feel it. Which makes me sad, because Iron Man is my favorite Avenger. But I have big love for Cap and Thor, too. (Part of me is tempted to buy this Cap/Thor shirt, because I would walk around wearing it saying "Saving the WORLD!!!" in a Don LaFontaine voice. But in the end, I'd rather have a logo shirt.)

Okay, I smell like skunk cabbage. Must shower now. Possibly forever.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I had very good intentions of getting stuff done today, like getting a smog check and going to Costco. Then I took an allergy pill and went back to bed.

I did start the dishwasher, at least.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I took CJ to training this morning, came home, crawled back in bed and slept until noon. I can't wait for this cold to take a hike.

I'm working on a deep clean of the living room, including shifting furniture. I normally get someone else to dust due to my asthma, but I'm doing it small bit by small bit and am ok so far.

Just got a text from CJ that his training has been halted and they are out on a search. First really nice weekend of 2012 and someone already in need of search and rescue.

Crazy - got another text from CJ "Almost done" which was quickly followed by "Nevrmind, plane crash in Elbert County". Eeeep.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I did some gardening today. Now I'm sitting on the front porch watching a bee go all over an annual I dropped in a pot last week. I could swear I hear her saying, "Om nom nomzzzzzz."
