Thrive to spite them

Dad has housecleaners come every two weeks. They dust mop vacuum clean coumter tops and bathrooms and a few other things. Theu use his supplies and he is never there. They go in and clean and leave notes of they need more sjpplies and he leaves them a check I was lived with him for a while and was there once. They said they felt bad taking his money because je would clean up before they came over.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeah, I don't know if my cleaning stuff is the most effective, but I do at least know it's stuff I can tolerate. I might not have remembered that complication until it was too late.

Thanks. I have a card someone left at my door. I'll start by seeing if I can find references for them, and go on from there.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The Onion provides me with an epiphany:

CLEVELAND—During an unexpected moment of clarity Tuesday, open-minded man Blake Richman was suddenly struck by the grim realization that he's squandered a significant portion of his life listening to everyone's bullshit, the 38-year-old told reporters.

A visibly stunned and solemn Richman, who until this point regarded his willingness to hear out the opinions of others as a worthwhile quality, estimated that he's wasted nearly three and a half years of his existence being open to people's half-formed thoughts, asinine suggestions, and pointless, dumbfuck stories.

"Jesus Christ," said Richman, taking in the overwhelming volume of useless crap he's actively listened to over the years. "My whole life I've made a concerted effort to give people a fair shake and understand different points of view because I felt that everyone had something valuable to offer, but it turns out most of what they had to offer was complete bullshit."

I've found references to this FDA proposal to make various medications OTC including migraine and diabetes (although diabetes is only mentioned in referring articles, not the federal document itself). But I can't work out which ones, or what impact it might have. I'm guessing triptans--that's what people think of when they think migraine meds. I don't really take anything that's a traditional migraine med (triptans do make my head stop hurting, but give me the bitchiest neck ache ever--it's totally not worth it). I'm very curious. It's not something that would have an effect for a long time, and they're talking about all sorts of weird stuff like you get 1 prescription, and then it's OTC from then on, or there's some sort of assisted self- or pharmacist- (fuck me) diagnosis, and then you can get it.

Still, the document does go into detail about why prescription meds are prescription, which is kinda interesting, even if it's vague about other stuff.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Two meetings into my day and this is definitely resonating.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Oh indeed.

Aw, baby horses.

I wish Deplin would go OTC. It's a vitamin, FFS.

The consideration I've seen people raise about OTC is price. No longer covered by insurance--manufacturers will have to adjust prices to make them vaguely reasonable, but there's only so far they can go.

-t, you have a teamaker? Are they all $150+ if I want to deal with precise temperatures? I am really loving my dragon pearl tea, but I'm wondering--if I could brew it perfectly every time...OMG...how dreamy would that be? Suppose that's better (well, it would at least be more consistent) than what I'm having right now?

I will marry him!

hip deep in pie

I woke up this AM with a low-grade fever, a raw throat, and swollen glands in my neck. I decided to stay home, not because I am deathly ill,but because I have been dealing with on/off low-grade fluish symptoms for weeks and I am sick of this BS. I am hoping a day of resting and sleeping will help.

Also, since I am home, I decided to book a mammogram, something I have been meaning to do since I turned 40. They have a cancellation for tomorrow!
