Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My sister's student continues to insist that my sister is gay and that they should hook up. My sister reminds her that a) she's straight and b) she's her teacher, but the student says none of that matters. At this point, isn't c) obvious? That my sister doesn't want to sleep with her? Why does this take emails and an hour of conversation? Seriously?

That's so incredibly rude. And on top of this, the student thought my sister was mean before she even started coming on to her.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Iunno. "Hi, this paper you wrote five years ago has an incorrect citation" kind of sounds like a dick move. OTOH, she's writing her dissertation on Joss Whedon fandom.

It's kind of an odd thing. The old Bronze posting board no longer exists. There are pieces of it on the WayBack, but really, there were such gems there, like the time a fan kept bitching and bitching about how shitty the show was, week after week. And finally, Joss showed up and said, "Just stop watching. I promise, the pain will go away."

And that was hilarious.

She also mentions that when Joss (or Tim, presumably) post, no one questions whether or not it's really them.

I kind of want to tell her why that is so. Maybe it will be helpful.

Maybe she doesn't want any help.

ita, your sister is so being harassed. I kind of want to kick the student REALLY HARD SO BAD.

WHY would the student keep on going? Has she no pride?!? I mean, even if your sister WERE gay, it's completely inappropriate. And honestly, that's probably what I would say to the person "Look, my sexuality is not only beside the point but none of your business. You are being completely inappropriate, and if you do not stop I will be forced to report you to the administration. Please only contact me with course-related questions and concerns"

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

the student is completely arrogant. Your sister needs to shut that shit down. No further conversations with the student unless it is about academic work. Your sister also needs to start documenting the shit. The person sounds like she might escalate.

I'm with len. She has this all in email?

Yeah, that's harassment. Cease engagement and what everyone else said.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And the problem is my sister is completely not mean, so she thinks it's her job to make the student properly understand her position. HELL NO. There's nothing to understand other than STOP IT. Nothing greater needs to be accomplished here. Having read the come on email, it's seventeen kinds of inappropriate. Hell, the student isn't even single.

eta:

Much of it. There's also an hour of conversation, and then the student camping outside her office for a couple hours while she wasn't there.

I don't get how the chick who wrote that paper cuts and pastes text with Kristen's name in it, and then calls her Kiba. How slack is that?

meara - Mar 14, 2012 3:59:46 pm PDT #26625 of 30001

If this were a boy being inappropriate there would be no question. Tell her she needs to escalate.

I'm also curious about how/why the student footnoted some posts with the exactly location/post, and others just with "buffistas.org". I mean, really.

Normally I would say don't bother with 2007, but...if she really is writing her dissertation on the stuff...
