Natter 69: Practically names itself.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Seriously?!?!
I sent an e-mail from a generic e-mail account, very polite, three lines. I am sure it won't get a response, but I had to ask why birth date? At best, maybe it will prompt someone to fix the ad. At worst, wasting time because no one cares.
But now I can let it go and refocus.

Wow.
Here it is on CNN: [link]
(By the time I got to a TV to check this out it had been switched back to soaps - this was a blink-and-you-miss-it kind of news special.)
Of the 39,000 troops in Iraq, only about 150, a negligible force, will remain to assist in arms sales.
To assist in arms sales? I don't understand what that means. Not that it's not legit, I just don't know what it means, exactly.
Not the overarching point, I know!
OK, more words from a different article clarify [link]
As a result, the only U.S. military presence that will remain in Iraq after the end of the year will be the roughly 150 troops needed to protect the large U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad and its thousands of American diplomats and other personnel, as well as provide training related to new military sales and other tasks.
huh.
...
wow.
Oh, wow.
A person posted on my FB feed something snarky about Obama. One of the responders commented, "One more year, that's all I'm sayin,".
Fine, whatever. The next comment:
"I can't believe he's lasted this long."
Um, what? It's a four year term. Are you saying you're surprised he's not been assassinated, impeached, or resigned himself? Really? You can't believe that? I hate people.
Also, as for the OP, "can't shut up" is your takeaway from today? Wow.

I seem to be cranky and dumbfounded by the world today.

It sounds like he's using the Vietnam strategy: declare victory and leave. I've been yelling that suggestion at the news for several years. We can't unbreak Iraq.

It sounds to me like we're getting kicked out. Which amounts to the same thing.
