Librarian Warlord

I encourage my girl to settle in for some Sesame Street in the evenings so that I can make dinner, or do whatever I need to do in 50 minutes to keep the house running. It is sometimes-single-parent's best friend. (I love Elmo, but Baby Bear is nails on a chalkboard for me.)

My DH will probably get in about 2:30 a.m., and be home until he leaves on Wednesday for Sri Lanka, hurrah! and boo!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The thing in the article I saw was saying that adults talk to the kid less when they are watching TV -- aimed at either the adults or the kids -- and that parents talking to littles is what helps them develop. Which makes sense to me, and isn't really about TV. If more parents left the kid sitting in the crib while they read a book, it would probably lead to the same kind of thing.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'd be curious to know if there's a difference between TV and computer screens, in terms of visibility. If the TV is that much brighter (and harder for babies to focus on), should we all be using PBSKids.org as our I-need-a-fucking-shower-babysitter instead of Sesame Street?

Because books.

I know that's one place I didn't fall down. I was so bored, I talked to them as babies constantly. A fly on the wall would have thought I was insane.

Art Crawl!!!

OMG, The NY Post has hit a new low. I have somehow managed to avoid video of Khadafy or his body. I don't need to see that.

ION a hawk with a nail in it's head . . .

How the heck did that happen? And how the heck is it eating?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Loved the picture of Noah and Grace - so sweet!

And, there's some nice news from a high school.

Unfortunately I was surprised by the photos when I went to the Atlantic to read the news yesterday.

Not happy.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

How the heck did that happen?

Nail gun. They've been trying to catch it for two weeks now.

So, did you all know there is an International Quidditch Association?

They have team standings. And video on the site.

Duh! C'mon, Le Nub, get with the program.

Actually I'm waiting for Whack Bat to take off.
