Our little office is locked from inside and a bit of distance away from the main lobby through a walkway, so I'm not worried about my own safety. But I have colleagues who are working in the main hospital. They all called to check in and are staying put at where they are right now.
One of the shooters is dead, I believe. Not sure if any of the victims are critically or mortally injured. God, what a mess.

OK, the latest from the grapevine is that there was only one shooter and he's dead, as well as one of the victims, but nothing official has been announced yet.
We have our regular weekly lecture series on the other side of the building at 4 pm and our education director says it's still on. Granted, we have an invited big-name lecturer from outside and it would suck to cancel, but we have to walk through the main hospital to get to the lecture room! Man, I don't even know. *hands*

I used Taskrabbit.com for the first time and had a great experience! I really wish they were in New Orleans because I could see smonster really making good $ by being a Taskrabbit. I thought of msbelle too. Taskrabbit needs to be EVERYWHERE now!!!
I am overloaded with house and work stuff and it was so great to post "come pick up leftover paint and fluorescent tubes and take to appropriate disposal agency" and have someone DO IT immediately for a bit of cash. Now I am sitting here thinking of more Taskrabbity things. Maybe Hec could sign up with the service - it seems an easy way to make cash doing jobs you pick up as you wish. I plan to use it a lot.

One of our staff is driving him down from VA. Hopefully he'll be able to enter the building. While the complex is in a lockdown, I think you can enter if you have a proper ID.
OK, I'm gonna start walking now. Hopefully to come back in one piece! (Seriously though, it sounds like things are now resolving, but everybody is so confused right now, I don't know what will happen.)
