There have been multiple shootings in our hospital complex: [link]
We're in a lockdown and there are more than a dozen police cruisers lining up the street next to our building. There are rumours flying about one of the shooters taking a hostage on the first floor of the main hospital. We're all huddling down in our office with the front door locked.
WHAT THE HELL. I thought Pittsburgh was supposed to be a safe city.
Holy crap, Vonnie, stay safe!!!
I have art-phobia. If I had any interest in drawing, I would be among those who would be taking beginner classes for YEARS. I have no facility in drawing - if someone had a gun to my family's head, I could not draw a cat to save their lives.
I could more readily drive a mile with my eyes closed than draw a cat.

Vonnie, please stay safe. Holy cow!
Under your desk, Vonnie! With a metal filing cabinet, maybe.
Stay safe, Vonnie! My student assistant just left to try and get a hold of her aunt and uncle who are also working there. Her sister is in the same situation as you are, and just texted her. What a way for her to start spring break.
Our little office is locked from inside and a bit of distance away from the main lobby through a walkway, so I'm not worried about my own safety. But I have colleagues who are working in the main hospital. They all called to check in and are staying put at where they are right now.
One of the shooters is dead, I believe. Not sure if any of the victims are critically or mortally injured. God, what a mess.
Oh, Vonnie. What a horrible horrible situation. Please stay safe! I endorse the hiding under a desk behind a filing cabinet plan.
Oh, Vonnie, how awful and scary!
Duh, cash. But her bank is at least half an hour from me. And we're trying to figure out a solution together.
OK, the latest from the grapevine is that there was only one shooter and he's dead, as well as one of the victims, but nothing official has been announced yet.
We have our regular weekly lecture series on the other side of the building at 4 pm and our education director says it's still on. Granted, we have an invited big-name lecturer from outside and it would suck to cancel, but we have to walk through the main hospital to get to the lecture room! Man, I don't even know. *hands*
