There's a house on my street for rent, y'all could move here.

But couldn't afford to pay rent. Instead, we'd have to live with you and mac, which would be awful because the twins are sort of a nightmare.

Also, it occurs to me I should use up everything on my good health insurance before I get laid off.

Dear Grace, no more cushy hospital visits for you. Be decannulated already because who knows if we'll ever be able to insure you again.

Fuck. Now I'm actually getting upset and depressed. Must back away.

Because books.

Thanks, Tep. I figured if the doctor didn't say anything not to worry, but I wanted to ask anyway.

What's the rent?

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I've been monitoring my blood pressure with a wrist cuff unit. The doc I go to says three readings of 140/90 in a row is when they start considering BP meds. I have serious white coat effect and every time I went it would be over that. Monitoring my BP every morning when I get up, it's rarely over 120/75. But I also don't drink any caffeine anymore and watch my sodium intake very carefully. Caffeine alone will push me right over 140/90, so I indulge only sparingly.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

In serious and depressing news, I think I'm going to be pink slipped this year. I have over 10 years with the district, but they are pink slipping 11,000 people. I'm sure I'm in that list.

I am terrified that the "New Orleans model" of public education (close down all public schools and dismantle teachers/employees with tenure and/or union protection and then put an all-charter system that is accountable to no one and staffs teacher position with Teach For America kids and has an all-"incentive" pay scheme) is becoming something to be aspired to.

Pink slipping 11K employees in an already overburdened educational system seems like a big step in that direction.

Republican state governments love the "New Orleans model"- it's basically outsourcing subpar education to all at the mercy of it (i.e., can't afford private school). DO NOT BE SEDUCED BY THE CHARTER SYSTEM!

Seriously, though.

Kat, looks like not a ton is hiring right now, except some stuff for the rest of this school year...

CJ was looking for a book yesterday so I pulled American Gods off the shelf. I forgot that it gets pretty explicit. Ooops?
