Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.

I'm sorry about the pups. Yeah, it's hard.

So I took Loki out on the leash for the first time in a long while. Yup, he still loves it. Yup, still growls at me if I decide it is time to go in before he's ready.

Pumpkin sat crying piteously at the window the whole time, so I thought I'd give it a try with her. Yeah, not so much. One, she wants to play with the leash the whole time. Even if that weren't an issue, it magically renders her hind end useless and she attempts to roll out of it. So. She'll just have to cry piteously.

Nitsa, the next door dog who loves me, was really excited about the cats, I thought she was going to wag her hind end off.

brillig

There was a story in the NY Times a few months ago, looking at some people from New Amsterdam, that mentioned a story that sounds like this.

Could be them, Anthony and Grietje were notorious.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So, apparently I'm "awesome" and I "do an awesome job". That was perhaps the least productive performance review I was actually eager to get something out of. Normally I'm just sullen.

If I'm that awesome, why wasn't my numerical rating higher? Give me better numbers, dammit.

Yeah, great problems I got.

Now I gotta get ready for the portfolio review. Jaysus. Judgy judgy day. I should pee.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I judge you... to be awesome!

Ugh, but that reminds me that a coworker asked to talk to me about his future performance review. I mean, I guess it's coming up in the next couple of months? And we have had some issues? But I still think this is weird, and going to be potentially awkward.

Also, I just started prepping for singing at a memorial service on Saturday, and it's going to be rough. The woman who died was totally my choir buddy. I'm trying to get the crying out of the way now.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm sorry about Trudy and Tom's sister's dogs.

Congratulations on the new job, Hayden!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ooh, that is super hard, Jesse, since singing is so emotional to begin with.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

My sister takes metoprolol for a heart condition. Is that drug related to propanolol (the drug in the reducing-racism article)? Teppy? Not that my sister has racism issues, just curious about the fear-reducing thing. She could use her anxiety levels lowered.

IIRC, metoprolol is related. And in that vein, the blood pressure drug atenolol purportedly reduces anxiety, particularly *social* anxiety. I learned this from a medical professional at one of Tim's ADHD support meetings (well, the presentation part). My BP has been stable on the same drug for years, but I'm toying with the idea of asking my Awesome Doc if I could switch. I would kill or die to reduce this social anxiety.

Yeah, it took me years to be able to sing the descant on O Come, All Ye Faithful, because I think it's just so beautiful! Der.
