Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig, dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage, and hootenanny, well, it's chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

I have those! They were a Christmas present from a friend. I haven't used them yet, but when I eventually feel up to tackling a GF cupcake recipe, I'm going to pull them out.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Do they come out of the mold easily?

No clue. I hope they do.

when I eventually feel up to tackling a GF cupcake recipe

Betty Crocker's GF chocolate and yellow cake mixes are actually quite good. I'm planning to make whoopie pies with the chocolate mix.

But I'm busy planning my pie for Pi Day (which is next week), which I think will be a crustless pumpkin pie, with pecan halves making the pi symbol on top.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, fuck, smonster. I'm sorry you weren't able to leave on your own terms, like you were in the early stages of considering.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ooh we ate GF brown rice pancake mix (came with the cabin!) for breakfast yesterday and it was so good!

The what now? Please elaborate.

Apparently the shop that is now a Haagen Dazs and (excellent) pastry shop, used to be a drugstore run by a Lithuanian who was recruited by the KGB and was a safe haven for Russian conspirators trying to kill him for Stalin. Trotsky was in Mexico City at the time, and they wanted to have an escape route post-assassination, and this drugstore in Santa Fe was it.

It has a hidden secret exit, which opens to a completely different street, and it's completely screened from view and opens up into a courtyard. So the KGB operatives could stroll in and out without ever being seen, or could go in one way and out the other.

It's pretty awesome. The guy at the counter said he'd show us the door, but it was busy when we went in, so we might need to go back.

Man, I wish my network was working properly, so I could see that photoset on first load! Thanks Polgara--that's a sort of perfect storm of things I'm in love with.
