So, I didn't sign up for art class. I got all confused. I don't know if I should sign up for beginner or intermediate. So I'm going to let the teacher make the choice, which means portfolio review, which means it happens at some point in the future, so I'm now waiting for a call or an email.
Beginner=back to figure drawing fundamentals, always good, help with artist's block, great potential for impatience and frustration...so I dunno. I am no good at self-evaluation, so I willingly throw myself into the arms of a stranger.

on Friday, one of my students announced that she was Jamaican on one side of the family. We started having a conversation and she casually mentioned that her (uncle? grandfather?) family member used to be Prime Minister. I wondered if her family knew yours immediately.
Uh, what's the first letter of her surname, if that's not too much information? I'm assuming she's related to one of the white PMs, of which there are a metric shit-tonne.
No, she’s not white. First letter of her surname is M, but I’m not sure which side of the family it is.
ETA: And checking Wikipedia, none of those last names are hers, so it must be another branch of her family. I’ll ask her which one she’s related to next time.

Oh, believe me, I don't want to live in blizzard country either. But if my house were hit by a tornado twice in two years, I'd be seriously considering moving somewhere with the kind of natural disasters I could hunker down and survive with my possessions intact.
At this point I mention that my home city has low humidity, no snow or even frost in winter, no tornadoes, no earthquakes and no hurricanes. And no funnelwebs (suck it, Sydney!). You can have bushfires around some of the outskirts, and we get the occasional thunderstorm.
