OMG, y'all. So we walked down to the BMA and spent most of the day there. Walking back, right by the Y field, my dad and I hear a cat's cry. I turn and see a carrier on the other side of the fence. My heart drops. Sure enough, there's a kitten in the bushes. A black & white & calico and tabby tuxedo cat. Maybe 4 months old? 3?
Long story short, dad caught her pretty easily. She's in my basement front room. She LOVES attention. Pretty sure the carrier was just thrown over the fence, busted open, and she went to hide in the bushes, crying at anyone who passed by.
Will be taking her to the vet tomorrow. And trying to find her a home. I CANNOT HAVE 4 CATS. And I can't even imagine how hellacious integrating another cat would be.
Hello, earthquake!
Suela, did you feel it? It looks like it was centered right around Oakland/Berkeley.
eta: Ha, you did!
Over here it was very short but a good solid thumper. The whole building went brrrUNK.
Yeah, it made a lot more noise than they usually do. USGS doesn't have a magnitude yet. I'm thinking somewhere in the low 3s.
I think that's the most obvious one I've felt since moving here. And my new office is supposedly on more solid ground than the other.
Woops, I'm wrong. USGS says 4.2:

We've got some sirens going, but that's it. No alarms or anything otherwise.
What is really odd is that this morning was the Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill, wasn't it?
Pretty sure the carrier was just thrown over the fence, busted open, and she went to hide in the bushes, crying at anyone who passed by.
There is an especially horrible place in hell for people who do that.
I CANNOT HAVE 4 CATS
Yeah, that's what we said, too.
