Because books.

Stephanie, I've been thinking about you. Hang in there.

Are you doing nice, relaxing things, I hope?

Much slounging, DVR'd shows, mac and cheese, and tea.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Things are sort of weird but mostly ok.

I'm so glad. Weird is doable.

Trust my rage

It's good to see that my issues aren't the kids' issues. I mean, I know that, but it is good to see it. And leaving the house was the right thing to do, even though I don't like how it makes me feel.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Why is Natter so dead today?!?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Because no one is talking about gender issues, doppelnamers, punctuation, or muffalettas.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Just got back from a downtown jaunt to drop off a couple new Halloween mixes for my old (good) boss Gabby.

Her boyfriend is a HUGE Halloween fan and always appreciates the new music.

Anyway, I hadn't seen her in a while and when we were catching up she told me that one of our old coworkers died under very mysterious circumstances.

This is a woman in her mid forties, competitive ballroom dancer (very fit and healthy), who didn't drink - and she drowned in her hot tub.

And her husband of less than a year had very creepy, dominionist/pentecostal ideology.

And his behavior on the day she died was strange and creepy and the details don't make any sense.

I think he totally drowned her in the hot tub. I have no idea what's going on with the police investigation, but she died back in May and he wasn't arrested.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I came home early with a headache. It wasn't so unbelievably bad, but my mood was if anything worse.

I definitely shouldn't stay up late watching zombies. A bit too tense for easy sleeping.

That's disturbing, David. Is there an ongoing investigation?

Are you going to take action against the headache, Theo? Hope it works. Feel better.

All of my internets are quiet today. Spooky.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I'm working against a deadline tomorrow, so I've been just taking quick breaks every once in a while.

That does sound odd, David.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

It's a strange world. On Saturday, they had a get-together at a bar for the main book festival volunteers. I got in a conversation with a woman who was also named Virginia. There are few enough Virginias that that was worth talking about, which led to a long conversation, mostly about the digital divide, I got her e-mail address to send her a link to Seanan McGuire's post about it. She googled me and found that I had left my job as a university publications adviser the year before she started working on the school's student newspaper, so, she said, "it just took another 27 years for us to meet."
