Gunn: The final score can't be rigged. I don't care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here's the thing. You never know when you're taking it. It could be when you're duking it out with the Legion of Doom, or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it like it was up to you—the world in balance—'cause you never know when it is.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Much money to you, Erin! May you have the same luck I had at my garage sale and have someone come up to you and say "I will take ALL THE THINGS" and give you a lot of cash for the privilege of making the things go away.

Dude, I would have a garagesalegasm if that happened!

You would all feel the seismic tremors where ever you are.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Happy belated birthday to the 10/13 people. Must be an auspicious day.

Happy garage sale-ing, Erin!

I had my yearly performance review yesterday. Unlike the 6 month one, it went really well and my soon-to-be-ex manager told me I was awesome. And that she had no idea how or if that would affect my future in the department. (We're in mid-reorganization.) As Giles would say, it's ok. I . . . I have more scotch. Eh, I'm still pretty sure that, should I survive the reorg, I'll be moved away from the crazier people, so it'll probably work out well. We should find out next week.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Good luck, Calli!

I'm still waiting on budget decisions that my manager has no control over. He's requested that my contract be extended, and I suspect he usually gets what he wants, but whether they will find the money to do it with....

Am trying to be zen about it. If my contract ends, I qualify for Unemployment again, at least, so immediate financial ruin is put off for a bit more....

Now tagless for your comfort.

"Cashmere, megan walker, and matt." . "Cashmere?"

Hee. Adorable.

A belated happy birthday to the birthday people!

I am on the warpath with the company holding my dependent care account $$ hostage. They just sent me an email that my check should be here in 10-15 days, but since I sent the paperwork in August and they claim to process things within 7 days, I am not impressed.

Would you like to get on the warpath with IBM Dublin, which still has not sent us $1500 reimbursing mr. flea from our trip for his interview June 1? Yes, that is FOUR AND A HALF MONTHS AGO. mr. flea is not very good at getting his warpath on.

I just can't stand it when they lie so obviously and expect me to be grateful. They are now trying to tell me that they got my claims and denied them because my eligibility was incorrect in their system.

Never mind that my eligibility was apparently correct for the purpose of docking my paycheck, and that they never sent any kind of notice of those denials to me. (My current question: How do I appeal a denial when they don't acknowledge receiving the claim? Please be specific in your answer as to the process I should follow, and when, how and from whom I should expect a response.)

Yeah, IBM is now claiming they sent us a wire transfer for the amount on Sept. 9, directly into our bank account. We never received any such, and our bank backs us up. They now seem to think it is not their problem. (Never mind Sept. 9 was still THREE MONTHS AND ONE WEEK after the travel anyway.)
