Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Our wings are not tired.

I guess since I have been the boss for so many decades missing work just isn't an option. Like 365 days a year. If stuff isn't done I am the one that gets hurt. Sick or holidays don't matter. My employees get to be sick and have personal days.

I do have flexibility since I can work while in the car (like now) or handling calls while watching tv. It has been ages since work meant I had to go to the office.

In non work news, basketball semi-final tonight and state final tomorrow. Whee!

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Can I go home early because I'm Just Not Feeling It?

Laura speaks the truth. The only time I've really taken a sick day is when I was hospitalized for a month.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Can I go home early because I'm Just Not Feeling It?

Yes. You have my permission.

However, I am not sure my permission means squat.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I occasionally quote The Far Side cartoon and say that my brain's full and can I go home now ... although I don't think I ever have.

In re cats - years ago we had a cat, took her to be spayed, the vet warned us to keep her quiet, no jumping, no climbing, etc. We said that wouldn't be a problem - she was a house cat, fairly sedentary, didn't climb anything. Of course, we took her home and let her out to get some fresh air and the FIRST THING she did was climb a tree and fall out. Her girlish figure was never quite the same, but she lived a long - 15+ years - and happy life. Eventually had a stroke and was paralyzed. The vet agreed that if she couldn't feed herself, groom herself, or purr it was time.

sigh ... RIP Marshmallow.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I've called in sick from insomnia, but like Plei, that usually meant working from home in between naps.

My last team was great about that; the entire editing staff was kind of nocturnal anyway, so whenever someone tried to schedule an 8AM meeting, the editing manager would laugh at them.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I've missed work because I was tired once or twice, but it was always the day after an exam day. Exam days mean that I work something like 13 hours, and I really just can't do that and then get up and work again the next morning.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

So, I'm writing another monologue, dealing with my experiences and breakup with S, and I've included several medical terms. I want to include a vocabulary for the actor, but I feel like there's a term for that, besides "vocabulary" and I can't remember what it is. Any help, peeps?

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

These kids need to be taught the fine art of white lies. If he'd called in sick instead, there would have been some, "Uh-oh we're short a crew member," instead of, "What an idiot!"

Sorry if I seem snarky, smonster. I get kind of ragey lately with people's sleep issues since I haven't had more than a few hours of sleep at a time for over 2 years now (thanks, baby!). I've had to get myself up and into the office or to my computer in my home office every day anyway. My boss would call me out in a heartbeat if I called in tired. Sheesh.
