Zoe: What's that, sir? Mal: Freedom, is what. Zoe: No, I meant what's that? Mal: Oh. Yeah. Just step around it. I think something must've been living in here.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Ginger, I hope you get your tests soon.

Thrive to spite them

So it snowed this afternoon and evening. I got called into work today and drove home at 5:30ish in snow and crappy visibility going really slow and even then I missed my exit (it's badly marked, and I've missed it before when visibility was fine) partly because I was going so slow it threw off my sense of timing. There's another exit, 4 miles up, so I went even slower, behind this FEDEX truck that started creeping along to the exit - I was going 10 mph when I finally realized the semi was pulling in there.

My nerves were kinda shot, so I went to get dinner and...accidentally overspent. i wasn't as hungry as I thought I was so no eating out for me for a long while.

There was drama at work too -- someone quit this morning. Which is why I was called in. So far no one is really sorry to see this woman go. She wasn't terrible, but she was really negative all the time. I was supposed to cover for her 2 Saturdays when I got sick. Friday night as she left she wrote a note that she couldn't work Saturday morning and left it, not bothering to tell the Store Asst Mgr or Manager on Duty when she left.

She'd done that a few times, plus kept asking to go home early - like 2 hours early. She was getting 20+ hours a week, last week she got 3 shifts and every other cashier got 1. So for next week she got 2 shifts and everyone else got more.

She came in this morning, saw her schedule, and quit on the spot. When I left I was talking to the Manager on Duty and he said he was glad she was gone and they'd kept getting complaints about her from customers.

I picked up one of her shifts for next week, which gives me 3 total. Hopefully instead of hiring someone else they'll just split the hours between existing cashiers.

I'm glad you aren't going to have to work with her anymore, askye.

So, my mystery symptom is probably not thrush. The doc took a swab to be cultured just to make sure, but this is probably a random and benign side effect of the Flagyl.

Glad it's not thrush!

Oh I read birth announcements in the paper today and one of the little girls is Jillian Mae!

Awww! I hardly ever find people spelling it with a J.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

I discovered today that someone I'd hoped to never ever see again ever is working on this show that I'm on. I probably won't have to see her much after this weekend, but this show has become less pleasant than previously expected.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Ugh, Sean.

My day started with a neighbor I'm pretty sure calling the cops on me for having the dog off leash in the park and ended with a performance review where I got to tell someone who I'm pretty sure was expecting a hefty bonus that she is getting no bonus or salary increase. Fun.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Yay! I generally hate to be wrong, but this is one time I am thrilled to be wrong!

Aaand my regular doctor just emailed me (she was busy today, so I saw her co-practitioner). It's a known symptom of Flagyl, and once I'm off the stuff, it'll go away. Tho' I made the mistake of googling the name she told me ( "hairy tongue" ), and I mildly squicked myself.

ION, oh how I love Written? Kitten!. Yes, give me cute kitten pictures as a reward for writing. It's not quite what I want (why can't the magical writing fairies give me, oh, new Fluevogs for each new section I write?), but it is extra motivation.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I know you understand the fear that's always ready to jump out.

You're right. Unfortunately we both understand it all too well.

Sean, that sucks. I'm glad you won't have to see her after this weekend. Makes it a tad easier to handle crappy situations when there is an end in sight.

brenda, you deserve a nice, adult beverage this evening. Hope you got one.

Jilli, yay to no thrush! But, the name of it is just gross.

So, my vet sent a sympathy card that had a poem in it that I know they meant in a sympathetic and kind way, but it totally sent me over the edge. Stupid poem. Couldn't even read the whole damn thing and not sure if I ever will.
