That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Ginger, I've been thinking about you all day. I wish you tons of it's-nothing~ma.

Maria, if they just turned off the account, the message may still be on the cell company's server.

You don't have the monopoly on his wordly possessions, or the final say.

Unless the possession in questions has been handed down in the family for generations, he has no say at all. Change the locks and the passwords or whatever it takes to keep him from doing things without your knowledge. He probably has that urge to do *something* that overcomes people who don't know how to deal with grief.

Thanks, ChiKat. I know you understand the fear that's always ready to jump out.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Ginger,

I had to laugh (ruefully) about your crack regarding drinking that shit feeling like waterboarding. You are absolutely right. It makes me gag and I have not been able to get past that.

I hope you can have an endoscopy instead. I actually preferred that. But then I didn't have to drink anything regrettable beforehand.

I'm glad the medical professionals are getting their act together.

Ginger, I hope you get your tests soon.

Thrive to spite them

So it snowed this afternoon and evening. I got called into work today and drove home at 5:30ish in snow and crappy visibility going really slow and even then I missed my exit (it's badly marked, and I've missed it before when visibility was fine) partly because I was going so slow it threw off my sense of timing. There's another exit, 4 miles up, so I went even slower, behind this FEDEX truck that started creeping along to the exit - I was going 10 mph when I finally realized the semi was pulling in there.

My nerves were kinda shot, so I went to get dinner and...accidentally overspent. i wasn't as hungry as I thought I was so no eating out for me for a long while.

There was drama at work too -- someone quit this morning. Which is why I was called in. So far no one is really sorry to see this woman go. She wasn't terrible, but she was really negative all the time. I was supposed to cover for her 2 Saturdays when I got sick. Friday night as she left she wrote a note that she couldn't work Saturday morning and left it, not bothering to tell the Store Asst Mgr or Manager on Duty when she left.

She'd done that a few times, plus kept asking to go home early - like 2 hours early. She was getting 20+ hours a week, last week she got 3 shifts and every other cashier got 1. So for next week she got 2 shifts and everyone else got more.

She came in this morning, saw her schedule, and quit on the spot. When I left I was talking to the Manager on Duty and he said he was glad she was gone and they'd kept getting complaints about her from customers.

I picked up one of her shifts for next week, which gives me 3 total. Hopefully instead of hiring someone else they'll just split the hours between existing cashiers.

I'm glad you aren't going to have to work with her anymore, askye.

So, my mystery symptom is probably not thrush. The doc took a swab to be cultured just to make sure, but this is probably a random and benign side effect of the Flagyl.

Glad it's not thrush!

Oh I read birth announcements in the paper today and one of the little girls is Jillian Mae!

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

I discovered today that someone I'd hoped to never ever see again ever is working on this show that I'm on. I probably won't have to see her much after this weekend, but this show has become less pleasant than previously expected.
