That problem does seem to reflect be a lack of foresight in the instructor's part -- there's a school for the deaf in KC, so an ASL instructor here would have lots of events to choose from, but...

We received a counter offer that is an absolute joke. So, we're probably going to think about it for a couple of days and maybe counter offer with something more reasonable, but I need to try to deal with the fact that we're probably just going to have to walk away from this. They had a chimney fire a few years back and they're trying to count the repairs that they made after that fire as upgrades. It was probably covered by insurance. I'm shaking right now, and I have to pull myself together to go babysit.

sj, that sucks. Try for the counteroffer, but that's ridic. I'm sorry; I know you guys really want this house. Maybe they're just trying to play hardball.
Thanks, Erin. We bid 20k less than they wanted, which was reasonable based on what similar houses in the area, and they counter offered 1k less than their asking price. This house just came on the market, but many we have seen have been on the market for more than a year. Maybe someone else will jump at it for the full asking price, but I doubt it.
1k less? They're not very good at this...
That's why I'm so pissed. It was an insulting counter offer both in terms of the money and the way it was worded.
sj, I don't think they know they're supposed to *negotiate*. Coming down $1K is more of a fuck you than a negotiation.
