askye is making me appreciate part of the primitive nature of my truck, because my two choices, recirculate and don't recirculate, are extremely analog.

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I need hivemind advice. Back on Dec. 14th, I missed a stair and fell, twisting my ankle inward badly. I could walk on it, but it was tender and couldn't handle any kind of twisting. When it was about the same ten days later I went in to urgent care and got it xrayed, and they didn't see anything. It's now been a month, and though it's a little bit better, I still can't point my foot at all or move any faster than a walk. I suspect the ligament damage may be worse than I thought. The question is if I can just keep on as I've been going and wait for it to heal or if I should try to get a referral to a specialist to take a look. I really don't want the damage to be permanent. Any thoughts or experience?

EM tore up her ankle when we were together and it took about 6-8 weeks to heal. Soft tissue just takes a long time. Are you wrapping it to support it and prevent it from being re-injured?
6-8 weeks for ligament healing, including a bad sprain.
do you still have swelling? discoloration?
Ligaments do take a long time. RICE and anti-inflammatories and look for ankle strengthening exercises on the web. Also, IANAD.
What David said. The prescription is usually an ankle brace and lots of NSAIDs. However, the fact that you can't point your foot (as opposed to being able to point it but it's painful) is worrisome.
Also, Pix, I know my brother's done lots of ankle rehab (tore a ligament stepping off a curb while playing hackey sack, no kidding). I can email him if you like. Also also, do you sprain your ankles a lot? I finally realized through bellydance that I did because I place my weight on the outside of my feet. Strengthening your inner thighs can help with that.
So I got some glass cleaning clothes, RainX, and some silcone stuff for the gaskets of the doors (I couldn't find the Wd-40 and the auto people recommended this).
Only I can't apply the Rainx because it's too cold. So i'm just going to go with the wiping off with towels, crack the rear windows method. And I'm going to work tomorrow, I'll just take Rte 7, which takes longer but I can go slow.
Thanks all. No swelling or discoloration and I'm ashamed to admit that I stopped using a brace a week or so ago because it really doesn't hurt unless I twist it. Likewise with anti-inflamatories. I suppose I could point it if I could get past the pain, but past a certain point it hurts too much to comtemplate.
I'd just keep the brace on because it's super easy to re-aggravate that injury because it's already weaker. It takes a much smaller tweak to set you back.
