[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Thrive to spite them

Yeah if I had regular tires on my car I would have been in the ditch.

Utah is 50% under what our snow levels should be at this time of year, and we're currently having a warm spell. Weather and water people are beginning to look worried.

Art Crawl!!!

It's been an oddly warm December in Illinois too.

Have my printer mostly set up now. By mostly, I mean that it's on the wifi and I went through the set up disk. I attempted to set up the FAX machine and one thing said it worked and another said it didn't. Oh well, having a fax is much less important.

Our wings are not tired

I really wish people would stop using FAX machines and just scan and email documents. I end up needing to FAX something for business maybe once or twice a year and it's a complete hassle maintaining a phone line just so that some company stuck in the jurassic age can get a FAX.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh I know! I have a fax machine for that same purpose and it's not replaceable. I tried to do without it and just fax from town or freefax, but it just didn't work. And the companies that need it wil never ever change. But it's a stupid expense (in my case vonage, which is questionable for fax anyway) because we don't have phone lines out to the house.

My department's main office has weird bad fax machine mojo. They keep getting new fax machines and the fax machines keep breaking.

(My office's fax machine winds up picking up the slack.)

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Why do you all have fax machines? I use maxemail on the odd occasion when I need to receive faxes or send them. When I send them, I scan them in and email them through maxemail service.

Maxemail does cost, but it is reasonable and I use it to fax stuff to hotels so I don't have to pay to print.

Somewhere out there in the great world is a fax machine with our tech support phone number in its memory. For years it's been calling someone at least once a day, giving us a free call that is very short and which does wonders for our handle times. But I have to wonder whose machine it is and why they're aren't wondering why their faxes aren't going through--or why the damned thing is dialing out for no good reason.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I wanted to thank you all again for the support earlier today. I was NOT in a good place (things are truly bad if I need to take the time to type something that lengthy on my phone), and things are still a bit shaky and may well be so for a while, but your words of encouragement were very much what I needed as an anchor this morning.

Trust my rage

I use ringcentral and my scanner to "fax" stuff to people who need faxes. The best part is that all my faxes come in as scanned .pdfs. I am constantly amazed at places that still use actual fax machines.
