"Command and control" is a standard term for regulation (and sometimes public investment) in economics. It is kind of a propaganda victory that it became a standard term, but whether I like or not it is a technical term, a term of art. Question: when an entire phrase is a technical term, does it belong in quotes, because the meaning lies in the entire phrase? And because it has a specific meaning in the context of economics. It occurs to me, for example, that "command and control" might mean something very different to a naval officer than it does to an economist.
Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I'm so sorry, askye.
askye, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. What a terrible shock.
You are doing the right thing taking care of yourself, and your discernment process will net the right choice for you.
Peace be to you and Maddie's spirit...with a little extra appreciation for Will's support and laying her to her rest.

I am so sorry for your loss, askye.
Oh, askye, I'm so sorry.
And ND and Pix, all my best wishes to you in dealing with such a stressful situation.
askye, so, so sorry. Such a shock.
ND (and Pix), I'm so sorry that you're dealing with all of this, and that there's no easy resolution. Hoping for the best possible outcome.
Man. As many times as I've gotten dates wrong and paid the price (missing an Ani DiFranco show, among many other incidents), you would think I'd double/triple/quadruple check dates. But no, I left work two hours early to wait for them to turn on the power/gas at my new place. With a half hour to go in the timeslot, I called the power company... to discover that the appointment was for tomorrow. So I have to leave early AGAIN. I did get some unpacking done, though, so that's good.
I need to find a sideboard or low dresser for the kitchen. I have literally (yes, really) no counterspace or drawers in the kitchen and that will Not Do. Time to start haunting the thrift stores!

I had the same problem. My kitchen had a total of about a foot and a half of counter space, no drawers, and the vast majority of the cabinets are so high that I can't even open them without standing on a stool. (I think these are ten foot ceilings. For some reason, someone at some point in this house's 100 year history installed fairly normal-sized cabinets with the tops of the cabinets at the ceiling level.) I ended up combining a bunch of gift certificates for overstock.com that had been sent to me when I moved, and got one for pretty cheap.
My town has a Victorian Christmas celebration. I remember being disappointed in it last year, but I think I've figured out which things to go to (house tours, concerts by professional or university groups, maybe the "Victorian Parlor Party") and which to avoid (concerts by kids, strolling Dickens characters.) I'm puzzled as to why Victorian Christmas includes Civil War reenactors.
