Oh by all means, YES to cookie dough and booze! And yes to going to bed early and just giving up on the day. My wallowing tends to be of a significantly more morose variety. And even then, as I said, I think sometimes you do what you got to do.

I'm in the "wallow on the day of" camp, and then try to snap-to on the next day: hot shower, cup of coffee, face the day. However, I make exceptions for a day two wallow if it's really bad.

After that, you're just resetting your neurotransmitters to "low."

What's up, Pix?

Nothing earth shattering—just very overwhelmed at work since I am attempting to (pretty much singlehandedly):

• hire a new teacher (including doing all screening/initial interviewing/scheduling/prepping/follow-up for the campus visits since our admin and staff are just as swamped);
• coordinate the school's annual poetry contest for National Poetry Month;
• oversee the student newspaper's digital public release (link on my FB if you want to see; I don't want to link from here), which means doing a complete copy-edit;
• write copy for the new school website page about my department;
• get my seniors ready for the AP Lit test (a week from Thursday), which includes staying after the next two days to proctor practice tests;
• plan an "Antigone trial" for the 6th graders
• create a master book list for all of our English courses and submit them electronically to our textbook company; and,
• GRADE ALL THE THINGS.

I could do everything else if it weren't for the last one, but the last one has me right over the edge.

Oh, and I'm also training for my first 5K, which I will run this Sunday. I've been really good about eating well and exercising until today, when I got so stressed that I ate an entire bag of gummy bears.

But I'm not unhappy. I'm just feeling stretched a wee bit thin.

They have. Ultimately, though, it's my ass on the line as the adult advisor, so I have to triple check it. I copy-edit every article after my (awesome, graduating) editor-in-chief does so.

ETA: I should add that the paper is a club, not a class, so there's no accountability. Except for me. The Big Boss definitely holds me accountable. The good news is that I get to teach this as an elective class next year, though, so that's progress.

I believe in wallowing - I usually give my self 24 hours and often get bored with it after 8. For big things I might spend more time wallowing - but I have to do some things. ( shower , eat good food , )

I think my wallowing is going to be spread out in intervals, between periods functioning. My default thought is still "I hate everyone in the world right now", which I'm taking to mean that I feel vulnerable and overwhelmed. I'm running late to work, but can't seem to care. I'll get there. And tomorrow I'll be on time.
