Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I think a lot of you remember that when I was about to turn 50, I decided to get rid of the plates Jason and I both HATED and ask for Fiestaware, which I had alwasy wanted. Then, we eloped three days before my birthday and announced it at my party, so all the Fiestaware got to be both a birthday and a wedding present.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Happy anniversary, Strix!

Our wings are not tired.

3 years! Wow, time, she does fly. Happy anniversary, Strix! Sounds like you have a real keeper there.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Happy Anniversary, Strix and D!

I grew up with white plates, clear glass, everything blah. For a while I was all about florals, but then finally graduated to a set of multi-colored fiesta ware back in the 80s, of which I have only 5 of the mugs left. A couple years ago I asked for these: [link] for Christmas. Only 4 of everything to the set and one salad plate is already broken. Cracked right in half in the microwave, even though they were supposed to be microwave safe.

Hmmm, I know there's a university in the south that has a huge collection of vintage lead type. I wonder if they'd take some of it off your hands.

That's the Cushing Memorial Library at Texas A&M. One of my friends is the archivist for their SciFi collection there. The most recent show she's curating is one about GRRM: [link] She also has a deep love of Cushing's printing press collection. She's gone so far as to include printing presses in a number of her fanfics.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Now I really want that blue elephant I found. Good grief. He'd go in my bedroom, which I'm painting blue, on the shelf next to my bed.

hip deep in pie

Happy anniversary Strix.

I have a lot of mismatched pottery dishes, mugs and bowls. (It is a stacking nightmare.) And I have the Sophie Conran white dishes for when I want to be matchy. [link]

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

We have plain white Crate and Barrel and I love them.

I'm huge and cranky and have the world's most annoying electrician working in my place today. I just want to take a nap. I'd settle for him leaving for lunch for an hour. SO ANNOYING!

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

If we're talking about the same Corelle, you certainly can nuke them! They're tempered glass, not plastic.

I need to strike Corelle and write in Centura, as I misremembered which of the glass products I had. It's Centura. The Corelle is other objects in my mother's vast collection of Corningware. No, I have Centura, for the most part. Which, by they way, shatters. SHATTERS, when nuked.
