[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Our wings are not tired.

3 years! Wow, time, she does fly. Happy anniversary, Strix! Sounds like you have a real keeper there.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Happy Anniversary, Strix and D!

I grew up with white plates, clear glass, everything blah. For a while I was all about florals, but then finally graduated to a set of multi-colored fiesta ware back in the 80s, of which I have only 5 of the mugs left. A couple years ago I asked for these: [link] for Christmas. Only 4 of everything to the set and one salad plate is already broken. Cracked right in half in the microwave, even though they were supposed to be microwave safe.

Hmmm, I know there's a university in the south that has a huge collection of vintage lead type. I wonder if they'd take some of it off your hands.

That's the Cushing Memorial Library at Texas A&M. One of my friends is the archivist for their SciFi collection there. The most recent show she's curating is one about GRRM: [link] She also has a deep love of Cushing's printing press collection. She's gone so far as to include printing presses in a number of her fanfics.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Now I really want that blue elephant I found. Good grief. He'd go in my bedroom, which I'm painting blue, on the shelf next to my bed.

hip deep in pie

Happy anniversary Strix.

I have a lot of mismatched pottery dishes, mugs and bowls. (It is a stacking nightmare.) And I have the Sophie Conran white dishes for when I want to be matchy. [link]

We have plain white Crate and Barrel and I love them.

I'm huge and cranky and have the world's most annoying electrician working in my place today. I just want to take a nap. I'd settle for him leaving for lunch for an hour. SO ANNOYING!

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

If we're talking about the same Corelle, you certainly can nuke them! They're tempered glass, not plastic.

I need to strike Corelle and write in Centura, as I misremembered which of the glass products I had. It's Centura. The Corelle is other objects in my mother's vast collection of Corningware. No, I have Centura, for the most part. Which, by they way, shatters. SHATTERS, when nuked.

April 29th, if I make it that long. Dying of the uncomfortable. Also, this child has the hiccups like 24/7.

The Annoying Electrician finally took a lunch break. Man alive!

Always Anti-fascist!

if it was a blue donkey, I'd totally take it. Kind of have elephant burnout(Seriously, I really do have a soft spot for cartoons of the donkey and elephant slugging it out.) Elephants with their trunks up are supposed to be lucky or something.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Happy Anniversary, Strix!

Teppy, I'm stuck on the Blue Elephant attending, with a silver lei, or other silver adornment. I like the French manicure, but I think I'd reverse it, with a silver field and sapphire tips.

We lived decades in North Carolina, where you can't swing a cat without hitting a pottery. All our mugs are hand-thrown and individual, even the couple we picked up at yard sales--signed on the bottoms, too.

I was forced--forced, I tell you--to leave the knockoff Meissen Blue Onion dishes H hates behind when we moved. Also the mixed yellow and cream (two of each) oversized ironstone plates and bowls. What we have with us are the plates and soup bowls we bought because they're Craftsman colors: that particular green, tan, and dark blue, imprinted with leaf shapes on the rims and just damn gorgeous. I had quite a collection of diner cups and saucers, and those inch-thick white mugs, but they didn't make the move. My Buffalo china white diner cereal and fruit bowls did, though.

We have eight complete place settings of china--pale seafoam green lace rims and sterling silver edgings--and rarely use it. We like using utensils that suit our moods, and the freedom from conformity (!) of random dishes.

Ironically, we left our stainless flatware set behind for our son to use, and planned to buy something new for us. We shopped for months, and nothing ever both looked and felt right in the hand. I wound up buying bits and pieces of our original set off ebay, since it's discontinued and the manufacturer no longer carries it.
