So, I've been on a weight loss kick ever since I saw myself in some pictures and thought OH MY GOD!!!. One of my big changes has been portion control, so I've been measuring. My general plan is to measure the portions of protein and starch and I can have as much veggies and fruit that I want.
I have found something interesting. As I measure out the appropriate serving, I keep thinking "there's no way that's enough", but it somehow is. I'm not hungry (although I often want more just because I'm a damned good cook.)

My grandfather calls this "Jesus cooking school." As in, when my mom comes to visit, she gives him appropriate portions and he's never hungry; to him it seems like Jesus feeding the masses with the loaves and fishes.
I need to do more mindful eating and wait in between helpings, especially until I get my reflux under control.

My nutritionist wants me to measure things exactly, but I have tried that before and find it makes me resentful and cranky to the point where I overeat more later.
