Ugg. My blood pressure must be through the roof right now. My hands are shaking a bit from frustration, or anxiety, or I dunno what. I'm calming down. But I really want to go on a rampage against the Clarke County Collections and Healthnet Insurance.
My ER trip back in Aug 2011 is STILL not paid off. After spending all morning trying to resolve this 2 weeks ago, it seems the collections agency has determined that the last round of payments were paid to the hospital AFTER the bill was sent to collections, so, the collections is still trying to collect for what they are authorized to collect on, and that last payment isn't counted, or some such. I dunno. I asked for a detailed report. We don't have that. Can I have a detailed bill, so I can present that to my insurance. It's across 4 screens, it's not something we provide. It's all in your EOB, you have it in front of you. Yes, what I have says pay nothing, so I need to see what you have.
AARRRGH.
So I call my insurance, and explain, as best I can. That they are not recognizing the same "multi-plan" rates that you are, and they want full rates. And for the first time since aug 2011, I hear "oh, they are in Nevada. They aren't bound by California law, so probably not required to honor the multi-plan rates for non partners. This will need an Administrators Payment. Would you like to escalate this?" Um. YES!
So, it's being escalated. When it is approved, then a payment will be processed within 7-10 business days.
My blood is boiling. My voice is a little hoarse from shouting into the phone. I pounded the desk trying to get a copy of the invoice. This is very far from my normal behavior. It is rather upsetting. And I really hate insurance and collections agencies. If I was in the wrong, fine. I get it. Let me set up a payment. But my insurance says ER visits is just the $50 co pay. Why does it take over a year for you to see the address is not CA?? Why does my credit report need to be penalized? Why?!
(no hair pats needed. just venting. I'm calming down. Slowly. Just frustrated.)
