smonster you've got experience working with people and that's important in retail. Retail is not the most exciting thing but it never hurts to apply. Working a cash register is fairly easy.
Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I have drunk EmergenC instead of coffee this morning. I am worried the tickle in my lungs is going to become real. NOOOO!
Hoping it's a false alarm, meara.
I had something nasty early last week and while worst GI symptoms are gone (and were gone in a day or two), I still am dragging serious ass and keep waking up queasy, which my train ride only exacerbates. It seems to pass with food, but it's also doing a number on my appetite in the morning, so it's a bit of a vicious (not viscous, as I first typed, at least not anymore) cycle.
I've been productive - woke up even earlier. Got up and once things were open went to the yarn shop to get help. Although I've now made a mistake on another project, but that can wait until knitting group tomorrow.
Then went to the grocery store and did some dishes. I had visions of actually a bunch of stuff but I'm sleepy and even with clean dishes I need to clean up the kitchen.
Also Will and I ordered Ticket to Ride and Munchkin (my cousin said he and his son play it as 2 player) as early xmas presents and they got here!
Ticket to Ride is great. I only ever played Munchkin Cthulhu (there are a lot of versions of Munchkin), but it's a LOT of fun.
I've enjoyed Ticket to Ride: Europe and Munchkin Cthulhu and regular Munchkin.
I ordered Cards Against Humanity, but I haven't entirely decided who I"m giving them to, because they'd be perfectly appropriate for several of my friends and family members! I was going to give one set to my BFF, but I ended up getting her something else, and I'm not sure if I want to give both.
P. just advertised a barback position at the Pub. Don't think you need bartending experience, just be good at carrying kegs and washing glasses, I think? Let me know if you're interested and I can see if I can help at all.
Saw that on fb, thanks Nora. I am not sure I can carry a full keg, actually!
There's techniques and tools that allow me to move full kegs, smonster. I'd be happy to talk to you about them - barback work is hard, but it can be super-profitable. Biggest thing is being able to anticipate what the bartender needs and then get it done fast.
Wow, it is getting slower in here.
One of my co-workers started singing bits of this the other day at lunch. Who knew it was from the 50's! Still works today! [link]
He also introduced me to "The Little Drummer Boy Challenge". By which, as soon as you hear that song, you are out of contention. If you manage to go the whole holiday season not hearing it, you win. (not because it's a bad song, the Bing/Bowie version is one of my fav xmas songs!... just... the song gets played a LOT).
(yes, we are both a bit of Scrooges at the holidays. Him, because he's kinda like that all the time. Me, I just hate how Christmas is now THE consumer holiday, and seems to have very little to do with the reason the church started the holiday)
I posted this in Natter. But the kickstarter link smonster posted - the cutie in the yellow cape walking along is my nephew and Roxanne is his other aunt (his mom's sister).
edited to say I had no idea she was doing that
