Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

This seems to be very popular with parents and babies I know: [link]

Our wings are not tired.

Epic's pick is classic. ETA: the giraffe teether is cool!

I don't know what your budget is, but I always like to give those very soft foamy large letters/numbers interlocking "floor tiles". I figure they do triple duty as toy, soft place to play on, and learning tool.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

sj, what about those soft books, that start babies off being read to/playing with books, etc., and looking at pix, but that if they decide to gnaw on them (as babies do) they won't hurt their mouths?

Books featuring letters of the alpha or animals are good.

(I know you're all shocked I came up with the booky suggestion...I ALWAYS gets books for new parent friends, as they are usually inundated with cute baby clothes.)

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

LOVE that giraffe teether. I have friends with a running giraffe theme (dating back to when husband/father was 5). Their current little one's a little too old for it, but I know they're hoping to try for another soon. Guess I've got my 1st baby shower gift picked out!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Strix, her mom thinks she has a lot of books already. So I'm probably going to avoid that.

Epic, good idea! I love those.

javachick. That is out of my price range.

Scrappy, I think that teether was on the mom's registry, but I'll check.

In it never hurts to check news, amazon is refunding us the money for the compost bin we broke (through our own fault) after owning it for less than a week. Go, amazon!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

spoiler font for monthly miracle notes:

I have an iphone app called "pink pad" and it sends notifications:

"Aunt Flow is coming!"

and holy fuck - it was correct.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Rose's favorite toys right now (6 1/2 months) are a couple of rattles, a big plastic key ring (basically a teether), and a puppet, though that last one is dependent on having Mama or Daddy around to animate it. I like the giraffe teether -- so cute!

I don't know what your budget is, but I always like to give those very soft foamy large letters/numbers interlocking "floor tiles". I figure they do triple duty as toy, soft place to play on, and learning tool.

Ooh, those look great, javachik. A friend of mine has something similar and I really like them. We could really use something like that to extend the spaces where Rose can roll around on the floor. Maybe I'll suggest them to my mom for a holiday present!

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

sj, we love Haba brand toys, especially the wooden ones [link] They aren't cheap, but Amazon carries them so you may save a few bucks that way. We have this one and Shane loved it: [link] All the little pieces turn and it's just adorable and really well-made. I'm sure they have a girly version.
