Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I'm going to see if I can check out a Mo Willems book (I don't think he's read any of them) so I can read to him on Skype.

askye, that's an awesome plan. It's so wonderful that you're such a big part of his life.

smonster, yay for good news!

bonny, yay for your good news too!

Thanks for the good wishes all. I must admit to being a little terrified of the newborn nights when my almost 3 year old is still such a horrible sleeper.

That's a tough one. Do you have anyone around (family, close friends) who could take him for a night so you and DW can get some sleep? I'm sorry you haven't been able to get the rest you need, but WOOT SO HAPPY for you that the pregnancy is going well!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Lack of sleep has been the hardest thing about parenting so far.

Yeah, it can be brutal. However, Matilda proved to be a better sleeper than Emmett so here's hoping the roulette comes up Sleeps All Night.

And congratulations!

And go Cipro!

And huzzah for Niki!

And the child is sacked out on the couch (finally). For those keeping track, he was up for 8.5 hours. Yesterday he was up for the day at 4:30AM, refused to nap, and passed out at 5PM - so up for 12.5 hours. I don't know how he does it.

This is definitely one of our problems. We have no support locally. MiL can't pick him up due to back problems. If my parents lived closer, it would rock. My mom regularly keeps my niecephews overnight and laments the fact that she isn't able to do the same with Shane.

I keep hearing people say that you usually get one of each if you have two kids. Please please please let that be true...

Our wings are not tired.

True words. Whoever said nap with your kids was giving good advice. The several years of either being pregnant or nursing took a toll on my sanity for lack of sleep.

Of course now it is them driving and being out until the early hours of the morning that can keep me awake. Oh well.

I hope you and DW feel better soon, GC.

I'm sorry to hear it. We're in much the same position -- our families are both far away. Hoping to live closer to one or both before too much longer, but who the hell knows when that will be. Any chance your mom could come visit for a couple of days?

You're not kidding. I do know that with this baby, the overnight nursing sessions are ending at the 1 year mark. I went to over 2 years with that with S and am frankly surprised that I didn't completely go mental with the severe sleep deprivation. Sorry, newbie!

She and my dad are planning a trip, but it probably won't be until the first of the year. They live in South Carolina and we're in California, so it's tough.

And I'm sorry to be throwing myself a pity party. We are absolutely thrilled to be having this baby and we love our little insomniac S more than words can say. Totally grateful that our worst complaints are around lack of sleep and not any health issues.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Congratulations, Glam! Vibing that the new baby is a slumber champ!
