I was thinking more, actively flatTENED. Sorry for shorthand on kindle, ita, you're absolutely right.

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
For the benefit of Bev, and others not on FB.
First day of First Grade for Matilda. (Wearing her heaviest coat on August 20th, because - duh - San Francisco in the summer time.)
New backpack chosen to please her style guru, Jilli.
With her BFF, Sena (in red) and her friend Alizon, out on the blacktop before school starts.
smonster,
so the new place is pretty good. We have been here 3 weeks and I am still feeling a bit unsettled (boxes still around, though Beau has been a TROOPER at unpacking - something I HATE). I had to leave for four days for a conference in the middle of all of this, but I'm back again and there is so much to do before the term starts.
So, I won't know how I feel about the job until I have an academic year under me. So far so good though. I'm not having to shield my students from racists, yet, so I think this is bonus.
My house has not sold yet, but it is still early. I promised myself I wouldn't obsess until 30 days have passed.
Hec,
that is the cutest pic. Thanks for sharing. I was actually (briefly) in your neck of the woods for my conference on Friday and the cool SF air was welcome given the heat I have experienced since April. I actually had forgotten what 60 degrees felt like.
Those are great pics, Hec. She's so ready to go, you can just feel her reaching for the steering wheel of life.
Le N, I hope the settling-in is smooth, and the year is a good one, harbinger of many more.
Those are great pics, Hec.
Thanks Bev, and LeN!

Yup. No laments about the end of summer for her. She was very excited to get back, show off her new stuff, and see her friends.
::knock wood:: I'm ready for a good year for her. She did well last year, but I suspect this one will be even better.
Bonus pix:
Matilda and Lily in a cuddly nap pile.
More Lillian and Matilda, now with extra added greyhound.
Matilda, Aunt Angela and cutie-pie Amelia Rose.

Squee! And damn, she's a great kid.
Quick drive-by just to reaffirm my affection for y'all. I had to come in to work Saturday afternoon to do some behind the scenes for a software upgrade/rollout, and right as I was getting ready to leave, my computer suddenly started blocking b.org. I've been in a low-grade panic ever since, sure that I drew Websense's attention and the board was going to be locked away from now on. I'm so relieved you guys are still here!
Mwah!!
::Runs away (back to work, sigh)::
Matilda is so adorable!! What a big girl.
