Moz the iPhone is dead and not coming back. Choices - stay with AT&T, get an 8gig 3GS for free (right now I can't talk on the phone in my house); buy a new 3GS outright for $149; switch to Sprint and get an 8 gig 4G for $99.
I so did not want to have to make this decision right now. And I so don't have the $$.

I'd say go for the 4G. Its' cheaper and newer and has more features, right? The only drawback is switching to Verizon? Is that a drawback?

Well, I could stay with ATT, or switch to Sprint or Verizon. Verizon seems to have the best service in NOLA, but no unlimited data option. Logging in to AT&T account to see what I'm using for data and messaging.

Oh yeah, I went back and actually read the content of your post, which helps.
It would be nice to be able to talk on the phone in your house, but you're moving soon, right? But if it's a NOLA-wide problem, then switching carriers might be a good idea. My brother finds AT&T useless from his apt. in Chicago.
