Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Um. This isn't good. There was a delinquent tax notice on my door, saying that, unless the landlords pay $13,000 in taxes, the town will seize the property and sell it. I moved the notice over to the landlords' door (there are two front doors on the house, one going into my apartment and one going into the main part of the house) and emailed them.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

The location couldn't be more perfect. It's the best part. 10 minutes walk from the train station - AKA my lifeline to work, in the German Colony in Haifa. And the street is quiet. Should be an upgrade in some ways. It's considered a "better" neighborhood from the one I currently live in (when in Haifa), though I found it's mostly stereotypes about it. But the train, transportation in general, close supermarket - all upgrades that will hopefully save time which I rarely have to spare.

The only minus is that it's kindda small for the price they're asking, but I don't think I'll find much better (considering the location) in that price.

Hil - what? That sounds bad.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Guess who has two thumbs and just called a new landlord, telling him he found a tenant from late October? This girl!
And what part of Southern California are you moving to? Whaaat? A guy can dream, can't he? And by that, I mean CONGRATS! Close to transportation is key! Funny, my new awesome place is close to transportation (freeway), yours train. Ah, I miss mass transit. But SoCal just doesn't like trains. ::sigh:: See if you can haggle the new landlord down on price. Can't hurt to ask? We look forward to pictures!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Fortunately, the humans came home and walked around a bit, which brought the kitty out of hiding.

Oh, I am so relieved to read that.

Hil, I hope things are solved by your landlord. Scary notice to read.

and one of the reschedule options the system gave me was seeing my regular doctor at 11:10. Not sure what's up with that, but I took it.

On this? I am guessing cancelation.

Congrats, Shir.

Erin, If you can get in and be checked out, it's probably for the best. But mostly precautionary. And lots of laundry and hand washing in the meantime. It's awful that we've got such shame about certain parts of bodies when really they are all just body parts. But societally, we absolutely do. And even recognizing it, it's not like you can just wave a magic wand and get over it even in your head. Much less make the rest of the world.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Very glad the kitty was reunited with her humans! Whew.

Hil, what a revolting development. Hope it's a mistake, or at least that it doesn't affect you.

Erin, yeah, get it checked out. It might be easier to take care of than you think, and at least you'll know it's not something bad. I had (tmi!) a similar problem once, and having them frozen off was surprisingly simple and non-painful, just in case that helps you.

I emailed the landlords. Turns out it's something to do with the previous owners of the house, and they already took care of it. So, no problem.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Thanks for the well wishes. Also, glad kitty came back home. And that landlords' issues of Hil are non-issues.

See if you can haggle the new landlord down on price.

I hate haggling. And confrontation with people that are not my friends in general, when I'm not certain I'm 150% right/when I'm not that sure of myself. Just want things to be simple, you know?

Cass, you and your family are in my thoughts. Erin, I didn't read the spoiler font because of potential blood/vomit issues, but much ~ma.

ION. Things that suck: 1. Going to bed in normal time, just for once, sleep for 15-20 minutes, then wake up and not being able to go back to sleep for another hour. 2. Migraines that are triggered by weather changes. In Israeli summer, when it's all about coming in and out of a/c. 3. All of the above.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I just sent an impassioned plea to the executors of Tom's mother's estate to please help us out by continuing to draw their fees from the rental income of Tom's mother's house that they ave access to as of now.

I almost said something about how in the US, heirs aren't responsible for the debts of the estate, based on the gobsmacked reactions here when I first brought it up, but I wasn't actually sure if that was true.

meara - Aug 09, 2012 6:59:36 am PDT #18468 of 30001

Nora, that is true. I mean, you can't inherit things if there's more debt than inheritance, obviously, but if mom dies owning $10k on her credit card and rents and only has $2k in the bank, I'm not out for that unless I co-sign on her card. But that also means while I'm not out $8k, I probably would have to pay out of pocket for a funeral or whatever.
